You're looking at some large bucks there, brother.

Serious modernist work is always expensive to design and build...it has to be crisp and perfect to come off, a difficult job all the way through.

Trad styles are a little easier, simply because sheetrock, moldings and trim hide a lot of construction & structural elements that have to be considered and integrated as design elements in modernist work. Materials and methods are much more to the conventional side, as well.

Don't get me wrong... there are plenty of items in a traditional house that will suck up any money left over.

Nice design on this one, though gray-based interior color scheme isn't to my taste. Environment is beyond incredible.

I hear ya. My uncle owns a modernist house and it definitely has a lot of expenses.

I found the website for it.
    http://www.compasspointewhistler.com/

On the realtor's website I found the asking price is $6,950,000.

Same house as in your first post?

    Price sounds about right.

Wow, very nice. Yes there is no shortage and it's existed in that country for a looong time. Quinta Do Lago is beautiful and there are some serious houses (I havent done it yet). On that note there is a famous house in Quinta do Lago that was there from the begining of the buildup of that area. Also famous because of the architecure. The Round House. Did you see it?

The one with the bars on the windows theme? That house (like the others I posted) must be seen in person. They are amazing. That last one with the bars on the windows is in one of the most (if not the most) expensive parts of Portugal. Quita Da Marina in Cascais. It was just built like many around there. I know you'd love it.

I also visited a Modern arte and contemporary design exhibit. The modern art is on display in Lisbon for all to view for free. It is owned by a Portuguese billionaire who's collection is one of the biggest in the world. I don't wanna go too off topic here...best for me and you to hit Little Italy for beers if you can finally find a free momment :D

Also spotted this summer was the construction of the Estoril Sol Residencies. This was the location of the old (and once very famous) Estoril Sol Hotel. The units start in the "few hundred" thousand Euros up to approx 11 million Euro. All of which stand just a split second from the Atlantic ocean as seen in the last pic. This is the "Riviera" of Portugal. This coast is a guaranteed must see.

The units are all sold out apparently...

Based on my experience in my old neighbourhood, I didn't know that was possible.
