i tried search, but nothing came up. these guys have a red /tan 911 slopenose that has been relisted several times.

anybody here have any dealings with them?

can anyone suggest a place close to them for a Porsche PPI?

i am looking for a 84-89 Turbolook slopenose car, and this one seems nice. not sure the origin of the white gauges, and i dislike red cars, but the rest of the car looks nice.

they have been relisting it for some time, so i may make a cash offer today or Monday and see what it will take.

    thank you.

    Michael in Savannah.

Michael, I was trying to buy their Black Mondial t Coupe last year.

Palm Beach Pre-owned appears to be the usual "highline" dealer that sources their cars from the auction houses but with a more interesting selection. I worked with Bob Brown and he was pretty straight forward. Try 561-723-3816

For the PPI I went with Ryan at RS Imports in Jupiter, they have extensive Ferrari and Porsche experience: 561-743-6441. Great shop, cool guy.

Bought a few cars from Bob including a Twin Turbo Porsche. I can look at the Turbo for you if you want.

thanks so much to the both of you.

my buyer for the blue TA needs until Monday to wire the rest of the funds. i want to get that deal done and then i will call about the turbo look car. i want a turbolook slopenose, but not a real turbo.

i dont need the speed or the added maintenance expense, and i know slopenose non turbo cars will be a bit of a challenge to find.

i figure in this market i may have more leverage as i have cash.

if i can learn to be a better driver, perhaps i will get a real 930 one day. i am scared of them for now.

I'm certainly aware of the M491 option but have never seen it on a slantnose. It must be some kind of aftermarket thing.

Yeah, the 930s are really nice. I've never been a fan of Porsches the slant nose is a real exception, an 80's exotic.

Michael, do you know if the car you're looking at has a steel nose, or is it fiberglass?

i will only buy a steel car, and prefer a factory version as opposed to a conversion. however, price and availability prevail on what i end up with.

Roger was "involved" in the purchase of my Fcar.
(Too long a story to write about right now.)

I found him to be truthful and honest in regards to the vehicle.

Surprisingly, mine was the only Ferrari in his shop.
On the other hand, it was literally PACKED with eye candy for Porsche lovers!

    Good luck in your search.

    Cheers

A quick Yahoo search on "Palm Beach Pre-Owned" brings up a general car dealership at 2200 Okeechobee. Is this the same place? I can stop by if it is in the WPB area.

    i spoke to them today.

going through the final motions on the car.

will decide yes / no in the next day or so.

the market is very soft, and $24k firm for a 911 with mods and miles on it is very steep in my book.

i sold my 1989 911 Carrera, black metallic Silver Anniversary car for around $17k, and it was one of only 60 made!

this red 911 is a well done aftermarket slope conversion.

not sure if its a real turbo look or not, option code should be "M491"..........

    we shall see.

Kerry Swass at the dealership was very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

well, thanks to a post on either Pelican or Rennlist ( i forgot where i got the pic from) the true turbo look cars should have the brake caliper at the REAR of the wheel, on the rear wheel. notice the 930 torque arm also on turbolook car( the 2nd pic).

the red car at Palm Beach Preowned clearly has the regular small brakes of a normal Carrera, ( with the brake caliper towards the FRONT of the rear wheel)and is NOT a m491 turbo look car. i know the pics are a bit confusing, because one is a drivers side and one is a passenger side.

    i will keep looking. :(

Sounds like your busy looking for your car, good luck. While you were at Palm Beach Pre-owned did you happen to notice the white 91 testarossa. Its been on E-bay several times. When I contacted them (Phone-Im in So. Cal.) they said it was pristine in and out. Pristine seems to get thrown around alot lately. Just curious, saw the F-car in your profile and thought maybe you noticed the TR. Theyre asking 79K for it which seems very high in today's market. Thanks!

i am in Savannah Georgia. i was going to have someone look the car over ( basic PPI ), just wire the cash, and send a truck.

i have not been to the dealership, nor do i have the time or interest to go there or see the car in person. i detest red, so perhaps this is a sign to just *wait* i guess.

i will call Kerry and tell him what i found. he was very , very firm on touting this as a real deal m491 turbo look car, which is why they are so firm on the price.

this car is just a regular 911 with a slopenose conversion added.

they lost ALL of the service records for the car, so it has almost 90,000 miles , and no records. Kerry told me the BOSS left the binder of records somewhere while on a business trip to show the car to another dealer. i know stuff happens, but come on man ! :)

no way its worth $24k cash.

Never buy a car without seeing it first.
Your eye and the "gut feeling" you get from it are just as important as the PPI, IMO.

I too looked at the red slant nose porsche at Palm Beach Pre owned. I talked to Kerry Swatz about 2 months ago and they too claimed it was an original 491 Turbo Look Option. They were so focused on getting a $500 deposit that after I gave them a deposit on the car, all the documentation they supposedly had for the car was missing!

After trying to get answers I went to Porsche's website and found their authenticity department. I called and got someone right away. They have just about everything you need to know about a car as long as you have the vin number. A manager scheduled a 3 way call with the owners, Palm Beach Pre owned and myself. Of course the car did not have the original 491 option! Not only that but the engine number didn't match exactly! I am sure the car was relisted because they keep running into people that do their homework before purchasing the car, so they relist it and tell the same bs to the next guy.

When you were working with Kerry and Palm Beach Pre owned, they absolutely already knew that the car was authentic becuase I was on the phone with Kerry and Porsche when they told him it wasn't. I am glad you were able to figure it out before you dropped 24k. on a tainted porsche 911.

Here is the best part of my experience. I gave them a $500 deposit on the car that was refundable if "the car isn't everything we say it is". They have yet to return a single call or even answer my calls. I am sure they are hoping I just go away and they keep my $500 bucks. I know times are tough but that is ridiculous. I have found that Palm Beach Pre owned is running a shady operation.

welcome to FerrariChat. there is a great community of folks here that can help when you are looking at a car long distance.

thank you so much for your reply. i have been doing my homework, and have bought several books on 911s of the period to help.

i hope you get your deposit back. very interesting to know they already knew the car was not legit.

its going to bite them in the ass now.

lots of people read this website.

edit. i added to the title. this way Google searches will always turn up this public thread every time someone looks up info on their lovely dealership. everything i have stated is factual. they are not a good business to deal with, typical of the reputation many Florida dealers now have.

    buyer beware. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

As a footnote, Palm Beach Pre-owned dumped this car at an auction in Orlando today for $22k.

car is back, and for sale by them. i love how they state " it was just traded in".

lucky for them, anybody who searches the net will find this thread, and will at least be warned.

i bought a 87 slopenose car, with a PPI for $15,500. their car is not a real slope, nor is it a real widebody optioned car.

maybe it is a nice car, but i hate it when dealers lie through their teeth.

when this deal was pending last time, the car was in the name of the individual, and not the dealership, even though it had been there for months. far as i know this is very illegal for a dealer to do. ( Federal law?)

It must have failed the post sale inspection at Manheim Orlando, so Palm Beach Pre-owned got it back.

I looked at a 355GTB from them that had a "fresh paint job". You know, because those cars need new paint after so many years. My wife went crazy looking at it and how bad the paint job was before I even had a chance to open my mouth.

Then the service manager came out and was selling me on having my cars serviced by them. Seemed like a great guy actually. As I was looking around the showroom right after that, some other people came in to look at a 360 coupe. The battery was dead and after the service manager and tech looked around for a while, they asked me if I knew where the battery was on the car.... yeah, I don't think I'll be letting you work on my cars.

Wow...I saw the car as "recently taken in on trade" at Palm Beach Pre owned Considering I talked to Palm Beach Pre owned 6 months ago about the same car, it is a little hard to believe that the car has been in on trade. It is such a shame because the 911 slantnose they are marketing looks great but it is obviously a chop shop car - espeically since when I called the engine number didn't even match (yep, they didn't know that either....hmmmm)

If anyone is buying an exotic car (or any car for that matter) from Palm Beach Pre owned, they should do their homework. First on the car and second on the dealership. It doesn't surprise me that the service department has no idea what they are doing. Palm Beach Preowned is simply a bunch of guys pretending to be something they arent. Palm Beach Preowned is a bunch of phonies.

If you are considering purchasing an exotic from Palm Beach Pre owned, feel free to reply to this post or send me a message. I can at least let you know about my experience.
