Possibly an early Microsoft, Dell, or other IT co. multimillionaire built it. The whole structure might be reminiscent of a microprocessor.
Interesting guess. I've heard the guy was in Pharmaceuticals though, oddly enough. To me, the coolest part is that swimming pool and the foundation.
Speaking of Rancho Santa Fé, CA... Anyone knows whose house is this? Best regards http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&cp=r8q2yjhmk7bt&style=o&lvl=2&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=10983597&encType=1 Image Unavailable, Please Login

Great thread. I have been meaning to bring a camera long for a walk with my dog to share a few of the houses in my neighborhood. Sorry for the amature quality photos and all the trees in the way...I do not want to creep my neighbors out any more than needed... The second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth photos are all on the same block on the same street. The seventh photo of the house with the modern wood exterior has the vertical glass portion splitting the house in two which is a stair case that lights up at night. The eigth and nineth photos are within a few houses of each other. The tenth and eleventh photo are of the same house which was just finished this summer. The greenery on the side of the house is very impressive in person. The twelveth and thirteenth photos are of the same house which is about 6 houses north of the house above with the greenery on the side of the house. The last two photos are of a house that has been (and still is) under construction for the last 3 years. It is kind of hard to tell in the photos with the trees and lighting but the windows have a blue tint to them that really is a nice contrast to the wood exterior. When I have a little more time in the next few weeks I will walk a few blocks further as there are a number of other interesting ones in the neighborhood. I love the interior tones and spaces. Very comfortable looking and something to be proud of. Congratulations.
My new home is 3400 sq ft and I love it. HUGE, IMO, is overated....but I am a bit of a minimalist and don't like to keep a bunch of things I don't use. Small forces organization, not that 3400 sq ft is really that small, but lately, I am shocked at all the HUGE houses aquaintances are building. The person that designed your interiors was quite good and the construction quality looks great, too.

That must be the Rem Koolhaas Villa in Bordeaux. The owner is wheelchair bound, thus the moving platform in the library.
Thanks. It was a major effort to get things right. Finding talent to build it correctly in central Texas was not always easy, either. The architects were out of Austin and did a good job, but we made a lot of changes on the fly....a lot. Fortunately, I expected and prepared for a 20% overage on the budget, which allowed us to make changes we felt were essential to maintain the visual elements we were looking far....the devil is in the details and it costs semi-dearly for the various exorcisms of failed details, upgrades, and hardscaping. My friends in California have speculated on what my house would cost out there. Lovely weather and great roads, but I wouldn't be able to afford this place if they are anywhere close on their estimates.
