    Does anyone know the difference between the carb rebuild kits from Ricambi and Pierce (each about $200 for 4 carbs), and the one on All Ferrari Parts (which is only $50)?

    One difference (that would cause a fairly big price difference) in the kits might be that one kit (the "rebuild" kit?) comes with the float (and needle valve, maybe some jets, etc.) and the other one (the "repair" kit?) doesn't (e.g, gaskets only)-- the kit you show in the photo doesn't seem to have the float.

    One other point is that the stock F DCNF use a 5-bolt top cover, but there are also version of DCNF that use a 4-bolt top cover. Shouldn't cause a price difference (and the F part suppliers should be supplying the 5-bolt, but Pierce might need to be told 5-bolt or 4-bolt top cover).

    here is a shot of the ricambi kit, looks like no jets included but needle valve? would that be worth another $120-150?

    I am not sure if this guy still sells them or not but I bought my rebuild kit from a guy in Italy. I have the original packaging too if you would like to see. This was years ago but it came with everything pictured and I didn't pay that much at all.

    Just be carefull there are two types of top gaskets that can be fitted to a 40DCNF, the kit I bought off ebay had the wrong top gasket. The supplier shipped me the correct ones so all was good. I noticed in the pics above one of the kits ship both kinds of top gaskets just in case.

    the ebay seller indicates "The kit is suitable for the 4& 5 bolt top dcnf series". Is that what you are refering to.

    The Pierce kits I bought some years ago did not have any of the floats, or valves. They only had the gaskets, rings, diaphragms, and a few cotter pins. Certainly was not worth the $50 in price, but I did not know where else to buy them. Ebay was not so big back then, either.

    $17, that is more like it.

    When I rebuilt my 44 DCNFs I checked my floats underwater to see if any bubbles would present themselves. The new floats were concave compared to the original flat sided floats. I read in one of the past treads that the reason for the concave design was to allow for more fuel in the bowl. So, I took the originals and worked the sides to be very concave. If a little concave is good, then more concave would be better.

    Regarding the Weber needle and needle seat, I replaced those with the Grose needle and seat -commonly refered to as Grose jets. Trying to push air through the Weber was like pushing air through wood and the Grose was like blowing through a straw. End result no more flat spots/hesitation on high speed banking. Gotta luv it!

    The attached picture shows the gasket that came out of my 40DCNF on the right and the one supplied in my kit on the left.

    The gasket in the ebay add looks like the wrong one, I sent him a note asking to ship the 5 bolt top gasket (crosses fingers). thanks for the pic

    Yeah Geno,

    I checked the Ebay ad you posted and it does look like the wrong one.

    I acutally didn't even check the gasket that was supplied, I just put it in.

    That night I was on F-chat and stumbed across a thread about carb gaskets and thought I better open one of mine back up to check.

    The supplier was really good though, I just posted back the wrong ones when the right ones arrived.

    Time to start asking suppliers about the diaphragms supplied in their kits. Anything short of a concise answer doesn't cut it.

    Are they NOS or have they been upgraded to deal with the fuel? No different than the hose, they will be/are leaking due to the degradation of the rubber coating on the diaphragm.

    Good day all,

    Indeed, not all kits have the correct seals/gaskets and at time quantity needed. I purchase a kit for my carbed BB and found that a number of the rubber seals were missing and that the gaskets were "off". I ended up buying all the missing/incorrect items from Pierce... Excellent people and were right the first time.

    I heard a blurb a while back that the Pierce kits supply the gaskets that do not dry out from non-usage. You might give the Pierce people a call and see if it's true.
