Being a Buckeye (and I am) is making me want to puke right now. You guys will beat us by 30 again. We have NO team speed. McKnight will go freaking nuts on us. MB Go Buckeyes
Ouch! CSU beats CU in our OWN HOUSE! Talk about an insult. It's always great to see a mediocre Mountain West team do that and know we have to face TEXAS, OKLAHOMA STATE & KANSAS. Dan Hawkins might be a goner by 2010...
Maybe this explains some of the lackluster play: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4452961 "As many as 12 Mississippi players could miss practice because of flu-like symptoms. Coach Houston Nutt said Monday that affected players are being tested for swine flu. Whatever strain it is, it's passing through the team quickly. Symptoms include vomiting and fever. Nutt says several players were throwing up during Sunday's 45-14 win over Memphis..."
That was one great game that obviously could have gone either way. Looks like Jacory Harris is going to be a very good QB for us if he can stay cool like that. I hope the ACC can have more close / high scoring games that are exciting to watch for the rest of the year. GO CANES! BT
Thanks, we probably could not have gotten it done without your well wishes! Oh wait, maybe we could have!!! BT
Congrats on your win. My wife asked who I was pulling for when I was watching the game. I told her Miami so Bill on Ferrarichat would be happy. She just rolled her eyes.
Thanks, we need all the support we can get! I'll be glad to root for LSU unless we end up playing you guys in a bowl (highly unlikely!). While I thought about not watching the canes play this year (for my mental and physical well being), I gave in and watched the game with my daughter who plans on going to FSU next year. We had fun cheering for each team, it was actually less stressful than watching the game alone like I usually do. BT
UM vs FSU--It was a great game. I fell asleep at the end of the third quarter and had to read the paper early this morning to see the final. I'll have to watch the replay this week, that fourth quarter must have been awesome. I thought both teams looked good, especially on offense. FSU's secondary was really, really weak, they're going to have a tough time this year if they don't get that tightened up a bit. Oh yeah--somebody needs to show Jimbo Fisher how to put on a ball cap.
How nervous did Miami fan get when Jacori Harris took that shot to the arm in the second half?!?! Highsmith had his helmet on and ready to go, and the way Harris got hit, I thought he might have a Bradford-type shoulder injury. Great game, funny that it comes down to a kicking miscue.......oh wait, this is FSU / Miami, so that should be as predictable as the sun rising
The 4th quarter was like a game within a game. Lots of lead changes, injuries, penalties, and last minute hold your breath plays. While the FSU fans will probably say they should have scored form the 2 with 3 or 4 tries at a td, Miami could make the same argument that we had to settle for a field goal from the 1 yard line earlier in the game. The kickoff coverage was terrible on both sides, but the QB's put on a great show. I enjoy those high scoring back and forth games. Either team could have won based on the outcome of several plays, so it is one of the unfortunate things that someone has to lose. I'm watching the replay when it comes on Sunsports with the FSU announcers. I'm glad there was a good show of sportsmanship on both sides even though it is a strong rivalry game. BT
Well I had another nice night shooting from the sidelines. I was a little rusty since my last game was the FSU-UF game in the rain last year. Didn't get home till 2AM. I will say that my Noles are looking good on offense, but our secondary is crap. They lost the game for us. With the offense putting up 34, there was no excuse to lose that game. Once I wake up this morning, I will start working on photos and get them up for you. At least I got Lou Holtz's autograph. BTW we had a missing man formation for Scott Speicher and his wife and kids were there. It was a real nice tribute.
I was at the BYU-Alabama bowl game last season, and let me tell you what, BYU is under-rated. They pushed us around on the field like we were high school players, displayed class after every play, showed discipline with no stupid delay of game or offsides penalties, etc. They have good play-calling...they don't idiotically go for a 40 yard long pass when it is 3rd down and 1 yard to go. There are no more than 5 teams in the nation that, on their best day, can beat BYU. That BYU is under-rated by everyone who hasn't played them boggles my mind.
The TV announcers claimed that the kicking miscue was a factor; they were clueless. After going for 2 points and making it, the missed extra point was no longer a factor in any way.
The game to watch next week is Ohio State vs USC. Oklahoma is done, and BYU will simply whip Florida State or most anyone else that they play.
