    Photos from last weekend's LMS race at the Nurburgring. A variety of photos from the various classes. Including one very unusual CER car - a turbine!

    One with wood stick is an M1.

    There is a McKee/Howmet turbine car in a private collection here in STL...was this the same car?

    More CER including view of the CER Paddock - they are the white tents by the MOTUL sign - class was full with some 65 cars.

    Last two are Formula LeMans cars that will be raced in ALMS in 2010 - class will be called LMPC - Le Mans Prototype Challenge

    The FBR 430 and following couple photos (including Vette and it's engine) are LMS cars - sorry for not making prior post a bit clearer! The front brake is on the #92 Ferrari (Bruni/Bell) and of course a photo of Rik's car sharing it's weekend home with Paul's Vantage. Last race for the Vantage is Silverstone. Drayson Racing will commence a new beginning in P1 with the Lola/Judd Coupe at Petit in a few weeks (drivers willl be Paul Drayson/Jonny Cocker/Rob Bell). Wishing him well.

    apparently only two built - what an interesting article about the car!

    Chassis GPT2 is the one in the photos I've posted so GPT1 must be the one in STL (detailed info in the above link)

    Chuck Haines is the local collector. Looks like the one still in town is the completed 3rd chassis. It's a fascinating car to see (and hear!)

    Wow Carol, I'm so jealous! Very good pics and thanks for posting the R8's! :) That M1 looks amazing, one of my favorite all time cars.

    You're quite welcome - the M1 is really neat, unfortunately the black one (first time to see it this year) is not in the world's most pristine shape - these guys really do race these cars for real. The one with the map was a first that we've seen this year too.

    Andrew - YES, the meetings are usually all this cool, however, the Nurburgring had the most support races on the schedule of SIX. Next meeting is Silverstone - here's the link to it: http://www.lemans-series.com/en/s01_home/s01p01_home.php

    Check out the photo of Nigel - he was just about to toss the pen in the air and go into the transporter. Poor Debbie was sitting on a chair to his left (looking at the photo), John and I were standing next to her having a chat while she was being literally pushed against the transporter in her chair. Poor guy was besieged by fans with all sorts of things for him to sign...can just imagine what the "real" autograph session will be like at Silverstone as he will be driving a P1 car with his son Greg! He's at the races supporting son Leo.

    Thanks for posting all the Ferraris that were in the race. I really like the Team Modena car with the silver tape remaining on the roof - it really looks nice - they had it on there at the Algarve race. It's a shame that more folks on Ferrari chat aren't interested in the Ferraris that are currently racing!

    Will you be at Silverstone this weekend? we'll be there on Friday. The CER race at this event is another one of awesome entries, I think something like 56 and Bobby Rahal is driving a Lola T70. We support Jan and his 265GTB4. Perhaps see you in the CER paddock or near Team Modena.

    you're welcome and I'm sure Hugo would say the same for his fantastic photos - yes, LMS is quite incredible in comparison to ALMS - there's still Petit LeMans and Laguna Seca for ALMS - both longer races!

    I have been to Petit 5 times, but now live on the west coast. I was really going crazy living in San Diego for 2 years (no ALMS except Long Beach sprint race). Now that I live in San Fran, I have told my wife there is no reason to miss Lagun Seca. I told her it is like Mecca for car people!!LOL

    Thanks again to the both of you for the great shots.....One day I will go across the pond for a proper LMS race!

    Yes, you need to go to Laguna Seca! We're doing the Golden Gate Audi Club hospitality again this year - it's at Turn 5 - check out their website for more into - quite an active group!

    I do not know if I will be able to swing Laguna Seca this year, moving and being unemployed for 3 months kinda put a damper on spending money for fun things for awhile....

    Unless I can find a hookup on tickets I will have to wait for next year. No worries though, I atleast feel better now that I live close to a premier racing facility again.(Road Atlanta was 45 minutes away from me when I livedin ATL.)

    Was the parking lot and infield parking at Nurburgring cool as well?? I used to joke with my friends that the infield parking at Petit LeMans was the best car show in town, so many F, L and P cars, vintage, modern, Corvettes, Vipers, just about anything. I always felt funny parking my Honda/350Z in some of the infield spots:)

    Perhaps you'll be able to find something and attend, if not, as you said there's next year. They utilized every square inch of space in the paddock at the Nurburgring so to answer your question, yes most definitely it was cool as well. You are correct about Petit being the best car show in town, even definitely moreso that Sebring.
