Atlanta Spotters Thread

I went again tonight and there were a couple of bulls running around. A dark charcoal grey gallardo was spotted on Buckhead Ave at a restaurant/bar. Was on my to Chops and St. Regis from East Paces Ferry and what would you know, a white LP-640 was driving the opposite way. I quickly made a U-turn but the light turned red and I could hear that V-12 gain some ground on me. Tried looking for it, but no luck. Also, unfortunately I did not have my camera on me so even if I did happen to find it again, I would have no proof of tonight's spotting.

So far, its been looking good. For the past two days I've gone spotting, I heard a roaring balls to the wall F430, and an elegant LP-640 coupe. I guess now I see the reason why you guys spot regularly.

A quick question, when do you guys normally go out and spot and historically what time frame is the best to catch these exotics? Also, is there any traffic towards 5pm on Peachtree?

I've found that anytime after 7:30 seems to be the best. It gets you there during the dinner rush and you miss the afternoon traffic which usually starts at around 5 and ends around 6:30 or so. I'm glad to see that you are able to get out and see some cars because I've had no time at all here lately.

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend, I'll be back sometime next week and hopefully I'll find some time to make it up to Buckhead.

 

Hey Purvil! Historically, dinnertime is the best time for exotic cars - I usually go out between 6:30pm and 8pm on days when I can spot cars. On Saturdays, the whole day is fair game, from around 1pm to dinner. Sundays, it's typically a bit later - 3pm through dinner.

It's sad to see how little activity this thread has gotten recently! It appears the heyday of the spotters' thread may have come and gone. I'm still active, though, here and there... here are my spots for this week:

Sunday August 30:
- red Ferrari 360 Modena on Georgia Tech plates in very strong rain on Clairmont Road approaching North Decatur, next to Emory.

Monday August 31:
- black Aston-Martin V8 Vantage at Bluepointe.
- silver Aston-Martin V8 Vantage on Florida plates on Peachtree near West Paces.
- blue Bentley Azure at the Intercontinental.
- bad photo of a black BMW Z8 at the Westin Buckhead valet.

Thursday September 3:
- red Ferrari 328 GTS on North Decatur Road at Oxford Road, just a block from Emory.
- blue Ferrari 456 at Hal's valet.
- yellow Ferrari F430 Spider on Florida plates on Peachtree near Piedmont.
- black Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder at Lenox Mall valet.
- white Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 on Peachtree at West Paces.
- light blue Lotus Esprit V8 on temporary plates on Peachtree near Piedmont.

Saturday Septembr 5:
- silver Aston-Martin DB9 Volante on Clairmont Road approaching North Decatur, near Emory.
- black Ferrari F430 on Peachtree at Lenox Road.
- horrible photo of a black Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph at the Mansion valet.

Sunday September 6:
- red Dodge Viper SRT-10 on Georgia Tech plates on Peachtree over GA-400.

Two interesting, if not exotic, spots this week: a black GMC Syclone yesterday in Little Five Points, and on Saturday, a black Porsche Panamera on distributor plates driven by a woman on Peachtree near Piedmont.

I saw this car on Saturday as well but only saw it parked.

 

At about 7:40 last evening, at The Avenue East Cobb (site of "Caffeine & Octane"), I saw a grey 360 spider about to exit. Anybody on this forum?

 

I spotted two cars tonight before and after dinner ......a red Ferrari F430 on Lenox Rd. near 400 and a dark gray Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera with temp tags parked at Houstons.

I think its the same one I spotted that night where I had only my camera phone. Still on temp. tags I see.

Also, Im a little confused as to what places/restaurants you guys hit up. Is it possible to one day maybe follow you guys around Buckhead to see all the venues you regularly visit? I just usually hit up the big places but I get the feeling that there are many places that I overlook. Maybe one day you guys can ride shotgun in my car and direct me where to go.

I saw what I believe to be the same Superleggera following a red 360 Spider on 985. I have also spotted a tan Rolls Royce Phantom and a blue 612 Scaglietti in Gainesville. Yesterday I had seen a yellow 360 Spider in Gainesville, anyone from around here?

What a great night for spotting.The highlights include my second Superleggera in as many days. Also, a light blue F430 that had a rear wing, after market wheels, and the optional carbon fiber sports seats which are the first I have seen on a street F430. In addition, a dark red Ferrari 355 GTS with a six speed ......this car was in mint condition.

Doug, I Google image-searched "white Bentley Arnage" just to see what I could see, and a picture you took is the first result! Pretty awesome, I thought!

(This is with strict search on...my school won't allow us to search with any other setting, for whatever reason...)

 

Ugh, I've still never seen one of those on the road and you've seen two different ones in the last two days. Nice pics as always, keep them coming!

Has anyone ever seen a Bugatti Veyron or no if there is one in Atlanta?

 

I know for a fact that there is a Bugatti Veyron in Atlanta. A friend of mine has sat in it, she said that he lives in the Country Club of the South and also has a tricked out Ford F650.

Another great day for spotting exotic cars. First spot belongs to Andy308's beautiful 360 Modena. While I shot the photo, the Atlanta Police were in force and were making an arrest so I could not take a decent shot. I did make a second pass later and found the 599 GTB there instead. I did view Andy driving south on Peachtree, he just made the traffic signal near the Westin -it sounded as good as it looked! Missed meeting you again Andy!!!!
I never take shots of Vipers but I made an exception due to this picture popping when I uploaded the shot. Lastly, a new Tesla to the neighborhood parked at a restaurant near Chastain park.

Hey Andrew, I hope the work load starts to eases up. This thread needs you.

 

Looks like you may have found the first ever 599 HGTE in Atlanta. Those 5 spoke rims are only available with the HGTE package. Also did you notice if the tail pipes were chromed and if the diffuser was matte black? Those are some characteristics to spot a 599 HGTE.

 

Went out Friday and here is what I found.

1. Gallardo in Midtown
2. Gallardo at St. Regis (could have been the same person but I doubt it since I went to Buckhead right afterwards....unless his V10 beat me which I wouldnt doubt.)
3. BMW M6 with personalized plates that said "Dubai at St. Regis". Found it a bit unusual.
4. V8 Vantage at St. Regis

Notables: Saw a yellow f430 spider with aftermarket rims with possibly a tubi exhaust. It was coming the opposite way so I made a U-turn and caught up with him being a traffic light ahead me at where peachtree splits. Lost him thereafter.

Thanks for the identification on this Ferrari, I was at Kyma this night (the Spiral Grey Corvette Coupe next to the Ferrari belongs to our friends "FOPS" - Andy you might remember him as Joe and his wife Anita from Kewlrides). We came out and while waiting for our car were trying to figure out what type of Ferrari it was. Joe walked around the car and still none of us had any idea.


The car looked great in person, the photo while an excellent shot can not really do the car as much justice as seeing it in the parking area.

West, nice spots lately! The 599 is wonderful and so is the Tesla! I'm surprised at how many of those there are in Atlanta already! I'm also surprised you saw it at the Horseradish - I always talk about how there are never any exotics there.

Meanwhile, only spots from Saturday and Sunday from me. I deleted all the photos on my camera on Friday evening by accident, erasing a few shots from earlier in the week. Oh well! Here they are:
