Although an Alabama alum, my money and my daughter are going to William and Mary: William and Mary 26 U Va 14 The school Mr Jefferson graduated from beat the one he started. Incredible!! Go Tribe!!!!!!!
The what? You mean Utah? That said, I think the Mountain West is doing a pretty good job proving itself. Oklahoma could have been overrated but at the same time I agree that BYU was underrated. Still early in the season and lot of things can happen, they always do. Best of luck to BYU. I'll be in Tuscaloosa for this weekend's game. Not one I cared to go to but the only one available at the moment for me. Hopefully I can get a ticket to at least one SEC game this year.
I still pick TCU to take the Mountain West this year. They return so much talent from a team that was #1 in defense last year. And Andy Dalton, the quarterback, will probably surpass the team record for passing yardage this year. Last year BYU was favored by 14 points over them but went home rather quietly. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.nationalchamps.net/2009/sub/pics/small/tcu_jerry_hughes.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nationalchamps.net/2009/sub/previews/tcu.htm&usg=__j97n_QB2Brse09P6xtocFDo-XG8=&h=400&w=367&sz=28&hl=en&start=29&tbnid=uD8Wwj2JYgrwfM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=114&prev=/images%3Fq%3DTCU%2Bfootball%2Breasons%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-USfficial%26sa%3DN%26start%3D20 But then, TCU never seems to get any credit for what they have done. Even though they started last year rated #17 and finished the year in #7 after defeating previouly undefeated Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl.... But then, what do I know?????
Yeah, there were lots of crappy performances by the ACC schools to start the season. Also, Duke lost to Wofford I think, and Maryland got stomped by Cal, and VT got beat handily by Bama. Looks like only Miami, FSU, UNC, and GT made good appearances to start the year. And true that the kicking miscue was a non-issue after the two point conversion. You would think the guys in the booth would understand such things. It was again one of those games that either team could have won, which fortunately falls the way of Miami more often than not. BT
Well I only had time to update my SportsShooter.com site so far, but here are 10 pics from the FSU-UM game Monday night. I have about 130 more to put on my personal site. http://www.sportsshooter.com/members.html?id=6134
I am a Buckeye fellas, but I just put some money down on USC. They are going to house us again sad to say. We couldn't even play better than Navy. Freaking sad. MB
Don't bet against the home team bro! I would not be surprised if your school (which is the one that I always root against) pulls it out. This is always the best thing about college football. You never know how it is going to end up. I would never bet against the hurricanes on principle! GO CANES (and Trojans)!!! BT
GT looked great at the start last night, but then looked just so so to me. I'm thinking we have a chance next Thursday. GO CANES! BT
I don't even want to talk about my Noles. We should NOT have won that game. Losing 9-7 at home to Jacksonville St. until :35 left on the clock is nothing but an embarrassment plain and simple.
TCU 30-Virginia 14. Virginia only had one first down after the first quarter with less than 5 minutes left in the game. TCU was leading 30-0 and had held Virginia to under 80 yards total offense until putting in the reserves. Virginia burned TCU second and third stringers for two quick touchdowns late in the fourth quarter with long pass plays. TCU will make the necessary adjustments to the reserve secondary and should be good against Clemson in two weeks. They are playing a very weak Texas State University next week.
Sad to say, but this is all about coaching. FSU has the horses. The coaches didn't have them ready. Dale
LSU over Vandy in a wet one. It rained almost the entire game. Chavis had better get that defense to learn how to tackle or Florida is going to come in here and score triple digits
I agree completely and the sad part is that it's been that way for years now. We haven't had them coach correctly since Mark Richt left for GA. In the post game interview Coach Bowden kept calling Jville St as Troy St. He didn't even know who we were playing.
Good weekend of football. USC-OSU was closer than I predicted. Still, OSU lost. Tenn losing, as well. Their game against FL is going to be...interesting. Been waiting for it a while now. Bama still looking good. So much more depth, and one hell of a defensive line. Once the o-line gets more experienced and stops getting so many penalties in the first half...and if special teams can do a little better on kickoff coverage...they have a solid shot at Florida in the title game. They look better to me than last year already. More running backs, notably true freshman Trent Richardson. Guy is a beast. And more people catching passes. McElroy looks very solid. He doesn't make me worry like John Parker Wilson did. Roll Tide. Image Unavailable, Please Login
McElroy is more accurate than JP Wilson, and the Bama receivers/tight ends are better this year than last. Offensive line is still a work in progress, but the outstanding running backs (with great depth in that position) can make up for a lot of O-Line weakness. Special teams are weak. Defense is competitive, with potential for greatness. Bama is accurately positioned in the polls at the moment. USC is *slightly* overrated. Their Freshman QB will be a *machine* by this time next year.
North Texas loses a heartbreaker against Ohio in double OT thanks to a 2-point conversion. We were trying for our first 2-0 start since 1994. Next week it's 'Bama. Pure money game. I just hope we can hold them under 60 points.
Yup, but Ohio State lost the game on their last series by wasting a time out on defense and by not going for the 1st down or field goal on 4th down prior to USC's game-winning drive. Granted, USC's kid-QB did what he needed to do in dramatic fashion to win, but Ohio State's coaching errors were what allowed that one drive to be so significant. ...and this is not Ohio State's year. They've had greater talent on the field in years past...so that detracts a bit from USC's ranking in my book. At this point in the season I would expect Texas and Florida to beat Alabama, but USC I'm not so sure...and I hold out hope that Alabama *could* beat Florida, but Alabama can't do that with its current level of special teams' performance.
Alabama won't run up the score. We sat on the ball inside the 10 rather than score again against Virginia Tech last week. The North Texas game will be about getting backup QB's some playing time, improving special teams, and gelling the offensive line.
