I took delivery of a 2009 SCUD a couple of months ago and it is a really great car. I traded a 2006 F430F1 so I was familiar with the 430 and so was my wife. She always loved driving in the old car and we took several 3 hour cruises to places here in south Florida. Well she absolutely hates the SCUD. See the thread below for her reaction to the car...

You probably think that I am p-whipped.... I have 11 cars, mostly American muscle cars and the Ferrari was one that we both could enjoy. So as a compromise I am thinking of trading it for a new 599. I know it is an apple and orange comparison but anyone out there with any recommendations??

I found a perfect car in the right color for me (Black) with a MSRP of 370k….it seems like I can get a new car for less than MSRP any comments on what discounts off of list people are getting...

Go with the 599. Unless you're doing alot of track
events, can't understand getting a stripped out Ferrari.
I know it's fast and all but still.

Surely the SCUD will hold its value more than 599 if that matters to you.

I suspect your wife would really like the 599 if she judges cars based on the creature comforts they offer. The 599 is without a doubt one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven, even my mom quite liked sitting in it.

That being said, if I were given a choice in the matter, I'd trade my dad's 599 for a Scud immediately :D

I have a 16M and a 599. They are very different cars. The 599 is fast, very fast and does everything well. It is fun to drive but not in the same way the 16M is. The 16m is a real sensory overload. You sense and feel everything.
It would be hard to decide for me. I think the 599 is a super car and I added the Capristo system and it gave it more horses and a bark. The 16m is like driving a pin ball machine. I am sure your wife would just love the 599.

I have a 599 and have driven the 430 Scud. These two cars could not be more different. What is your mission for the car? If it involves track, aggressive street driving, etc the Scud is for you. If you want a very comfortable, very fast Grand Touring car which the 599 is, then the 599 is the way to go. If you have the funds then a 599 and the new 458 Italia would be a great collection?

I don't think you would be disappointed with the 599. Losing the SCUD may seem terrible at first, but with the 599 as a replacement, that regret won't last long.

The Scud is your toy. If she wants to be chauffeured in something more comfortable, drive another car. FYI, women love Quattroportes.

Ok here is how it plays out…I go home last night and tell the wife that I am willing to trade the SCUD for a 599, I found a perfect car and knew that she has always loved the 599 and want to make her happy…

She says that she can’t believe that I would be willing to do that for her and how much she loves me…. promised she would not complain about the SCUD anymore… I even got lucky last night…

Thanks for all the advise .... this turned out better than I could have ever imagined. :)
