Will be in Chicago the first weekend in October. Any suggestions for dinner. I'll be in town for four nights. I'm thinking about taking the 430 and will be staying at the Fairmont do they have secure parking? Thank you in advance.

A must visit. It's Chicago old school and family owned. Have them park the 430 in front and eat on the patio!

There's always the Viagra Triangle on State just south of Division. Go to Luxe Bar and/or Tavern on Rush and you'll be in good company. Lots of exotics and the valet's are used to high end parking right out front. I guess this would be the obvious answer. There's also Gibson's; Morton's and Hugo's Frog Bar all in walking distance.

David Burke's Primehouse has the best steak. (it pains me to say that, since it's a NY joint.) Topolobampo is the best overall meal I've ever had, with the wine pairings. Spiaggia is over-rated. Those are all high-end, but plenty of mid-level joints exist that are really good. Check metromix for more ideas and suggestions. If the weather is nice, be sure to hit some rooftop bars and take in the sights. See here for more details: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=856532

+1 on the Topolobampo. Great place. If you're the type that likes restaurant as theatre, Alinea is amazing but it's about $750/couple.

Plus Topolobompo has the added benny of being Obama's favorite restaurant...
I think Shulas Steak house is walking distance from the Fairmont but not quite sure.. Been there twice, last time was after the Bears loss to Carolina in the Playoffs... Treated my Dad and Father-in-law to tickets, Hotel and dinner.... They are still mad cuz they said they jinxed the game since neither of them have been to a game since the 80's and I made them go......
    Tony..........

PS, If money is no object and you like true fine dining, Charlie Trotters is the place to go, try and get the chefs table..... Last time I was there the bill was 1200 for 2 couples but it was worth it..... ASk for a tour of the wine cellar, the kitchen and the TV set area.... (if they are all still avail.)

If you are looking for fine dining and are in the Viagra Triangle venture north a few blocks to Division.

What he said! I wasn't real impressed with Hugo Frog Bar, if you go on a fri/sat night, Michael Jordan is known to frequent Gibsons which is right next door.

Thats a pretty big can o'worms to open to chicagoland people. There are many great places, and just like the dealers out here, you will hear mixed reviews on all.

Perhaps narrow it down, are you looking for places in the immediate vicinity, cab distance, or do you want to venture out in the 430?? Also, what style of dining and types of food do you like :)

    Good luck!
