Does anybody know the VIN of this 150S that resides in Italy today?

Apart its non original LHD-conversion the car seems to be original. I saw the car some years ago in the Bassano el Grappa-events butunfortunately I lost my notes from there.

    Anybody?

    Ciao!

    Doug,
all Maserati race cars from the 50ies are beautifull (despite the Birdcage that looks nice only on the 2nd view).

    Boudewijn,
    many thanks.

Than its this car that won the 500 km Nuerburgring in 1955 with Jean Behra driving!! so, perhaps the most successfull 150S. But the LHD is rather odd!

    Ciao!

    I thought #1651, 1656 and 1659 claim the 1955 NR victory?

I saw the car also several times during the MM and the Bassano events and thought for a long time it was a replica due to the lhd steering. It even used to have E-type style chrome headlamp surroundings.

    Regards

I bought a photo in March this year that shows the open engine compartment of the winning Nuerburgring-150S. Clearly visible is the chassisnumber plate, stamped #1561. Spare-car at the `Ring was #1656! This is confirmed by another photo from my humble archive that shows the engine of the car in brilliant quality. The no. here is also clearly visible.
Here are both cars during practice (©W.Bäumer Collection,2009). No16 is #1651.

The additions and changing(s) on #1651 today are the result of a not very detailed restoration in Italy.

Yep, thats Behra in #1651. It was not known that Maserati had two 150S at the `Ring for this race until I could purchase a complete photo-collection about 7 years ago. One 150S was the DeDion- and the other a standart-version. Compare the photo you posted with the two modern shots in the beginning and you see that #1651 today has different air-ducts.

    Ciao!
