The goose liver thread got me thinking...

    About veal.

    Who here likes it?

Aside from the sad little animal portrayed in the PETA ads, why does anyone eat it?

It seems to be the most tasteless meat going. Whats the attraction?

I will say this as an aside:

My brother tells me he once had dinner in Albany Ga at the Mellon brother's plantation and they had FETAL veal.

Now thats probably pretty tender.... I bet PETA loves that stuff.

veal is great until you over cook it and make it tough.

It's pretty common in Canada, and is one of my favorite meats. Nice and tender, smoother texture, flavor that is lighter than beef. That said, I usually eat it breaded in parm seasonings.

Ever since my wife saw cotton-ball-baby-sheep frolicking in a field near Eugene, Oregon last
year, lamb chops went off the table, along with veal. "I'm not going to eat baby ANYTHINGS"
So I must 'keep the peace' and join the boycott of both (gonna miss those lamb chops!)

I guess those little bitty carrots in bags are somehow different :D

Don'tcha know proper meatballs have ground beef, pork sausage and more ground beef in the form of veal?

On your behalf, I think I'll drown the ol' sorrows in Veal and butter, and lots of it.

Which, once again, begs the age old question: Which came first, the Rocky Mountain Oyster or the Fetal Veal? :D
