Lewis Hamilton rightly won the WDC in 2008. How does Piquet's move somehow morph in to a Massa victory in the WDC? Come on guys, take off the rose colored glasses and quit drinking the funny tasting Kool-aid.
Last year's results are final. However if anything they could throw out Alonso's victory. That would mean that Hami would get more points and the championship lead would actually be bigger. As I pointed out on here several days ago. No WDC for Massa. Ever.
Woulda Shoulda Coulda... tifosi12 is correct. No other teams cheated, and Ferrari were the only team to caved the under pressure. If anything Alonso should be DNF'd. This would bump the rest of the drivers up and would give Hamilton a 3 point lead for the WDC! Any other thinking is clearly illogical Regards
Hey, how about we eliminate the Renault's from the rest of the years races (in 2008) then maybe Massa would have won. Nope, Hamilton would have gotten 3 extra points to Massa's 1. How about if the finishing order of all the races was reversed? Yes, Massa wins!! Good job!
If that would have happened, then everybody's strategy would have changed from that point on. We just don't know. I just think it is pretty pointless to play these "what if" games. Just saying...
I respectfully disagree. I think Massa has every quality Kimi and Hamilton has, except, maybe, he cracks a little fast under pressure. People are saying this race cost Massa the championship. i think they're wrong. Malaysia and Australia cost Massa the championship. Particularly Malaysia.
The team cost Massa the WDC. Quite frankly, for all those who stated Felipe isn't a WDC-material driver, how then did he end up to be runner up for the season with so much going against him from the support side? And how much was Hambone's margin again? And he IS WDC material?
Agree Jack, Massa is definately WDC material, he is the type of driver that never seems to give up. Better support from Ferrari and he would have been WDCin 2008 of that there is no doubt.
I agree. He has matured into a good driver, a great team player and, maybe one day, a WDC - just not in 2008.
By the FIA gifting him lots of points by elevating him to be the winner at Spa, by demoting Hamilton from being the winner at Spa and by calling the pit exit incident in Fuji the other guy's fault (which it wasn't). All together something like a dozen points swing in his favor. WDC would have been decided earlier and clearer in Hamilton's favor without all the post race changes by the FIA, which pretty much everybody who wasn't wearing red tinted glasses disagreed with. Massa is no WDC material. Fast driver yes, WDC no.
Success !!! All I set out to do was cerate an arguement, and see what all that brain power could come up with. Now, imagine trying to run a team. Sorry if you got hot under the collar......
Thanks! A little Massa hyping/bashing always guarantees a lively discussion. It never fails. In that regard he is just like Schumacher: Polarizing to the extreme. Love him or loath him.
They actually seem to enjoy themselves and have no problem showing it. With everything else going on the joy seems to have been sucked out of the sport these days.
Well you know where I stand in regards to Massa. Rubens, yes, he is genuine. As for the rest of F1: I love scandals and bomb shells. Keeps the waiting period between the races more interesting. F1 is the biggest incestuous family out there and I love it all the more for it. Who says soap operas are a dying breed?
+1 to the nth degree, and considering Mosley knew Flav and Co cheated he did nothing about it, bar helping to close up the WDC race, it stinks. The decks of F1 need sweeping of Mosley and his ways it's well overdue. Heres hoping if there is a bad Dictator, he is often followed by a better one, who realises when he comes to power that it is not wise to try to rule in the same away.
