With all do respect Jim there's a lot of cars that will most likely produce more hp and use a smaller tire and have a front engine layout that have traction. I immagine if he goes to a softer tire compound like that in a slick or a radial he will be fine. But this All depends on how much hp he will make and what the powerband looks like.

In the case of the Enzo with the HP that a stock one has on it's stock tires it comes on the TC from a dig so I'd think with more HP the situation would be worse.

Are you talking about AWD cars? The Veyron even with it's larger and better tires comes on the TC from a dig with it's 1000 engine and it's AWD.

Not a bad idea, but the Veyron's tires are reportedly north (in some instances, WAY north) of $10K. And any 1000 hp car, AWD or not, is going to go through them fairly quickly.

I know that money probably isn't an issue here, but it seems like there could potentially be a better alternative.

Jim, any problems with traction once out of first gear on P4/5? Obviously a twin-turbo Enzo will have more issues than your car, but I know P4/5 has less weight to deal with as well.

And you are running wider tires than stock Enzo, correct?

The issue becomes the wheels as well. I'm not sure bigger tires and wheels will go on a stock Enzo without some modification including modification to the ecu which we had to do when we fit bigger wheels and tires to P 4/5.

Yes even with bigger wheels and tires we come on TC in second gear as well.

More along the lines of drag cars Cars have gone 7's on 275's. I immagine this car wont be used so much as a road race car anymore more of a driver. So the suspension might be adjusted differently then a stock enzo. If he plans to run a slick type tire for traction purposes it could very well hook from a dig with a little heat in the tire not to mention be very potent from a low mph roll. The turbo Ford GT's are praised for their traction on the street, I immagine this enzo will be the same way. It also depends on how they run boost and how much lb is in each gear. With modern boost controllers each gear can have its own boost setting. For example say max boost is 20lbs first gear could be set at 6lbs second gear 15lbs and 3rd gear on would be 20lbs. With that said we will have to wait and see how much hp the car produces. Once the turbos are announced that will be easily figured out.

Drag cars run 7's with 275's on tracks coated in loads of rubber and suspensions set to run in a straight line. A twin-turbo mid-engine V12 supercar probably won't have the same objectives, nor is it likely to be set up that way.

I can't imagine that hooking up from a dig is that important--1000hp takes quite a toll on a transmission/drivetrain when transferring all that energy into forward motion from zero...Not to mention that once a car dips below the 3.5 second range from 0-60, there really isn't much left to be found unless you're strictly drag racing because traction is so difficult to obtain. Hooking up in third while flooring it will probably be a bigger issue.

I also would guess that Mr. Losee won't run a slick tire due to his extensive history of driving the car on the street (a reported 35K + miles prior to the wreck). Not only are slicks illegal (to my knowledge), but they are incredibly dangerous when combined with any amount of water.

I remember reading about a Beryllium bicycle frame somewhere. The cost of the frame alone was allegedly in the $20k range.

I'm amazed at the strength of the carbon where it mates to the cage. You'd think the metal would be more rigid and "snap" the carbon when stressed.

Who are you guys using for the ceramic coatings? I've always had good results with Swain coatings on race cars.

I've seen/tested a coupe different ones, and the only common factor is this: don't coat the inside of the manifolds. I've seen a couple destroyed turbochargers because of the coating flaking inside the manifolds, and with the price of an enzo engine, safe is better than sorry. :)

you guys need to do a little reading on 1200-1500hp "street" cars. these cars that run 7' and even 8s... can be driven on the street with the way there suspension is... go take a look at supraforums.com and read. PS. i hate the supra, and just about every single supra owner (stereotypes suck) but... amazing things have been done with these cars... a gentleman who goes by the name of SW should be the focus of your search... hit TT gallardo was just completed and he will be putting a motec on it shortly... it should then produce over 1500hp to the tire... the tire... not at the flywheel...

SW (aka Streetking) is a member here on FChat. We will be at the Texas Mile next weekend. It will be interesting to see what what the TT Gallardos can do. Jonah's is already producing 1500whp, not sure about SW's.
