Hi, I'm new to the forum, and have a UK 03 360 spider with f1 transmission.

After driving in traffic for some time in auto mode, when I finally hit the open road, I noticed that the auto would not change up on its own intermittently (works fine from paddles, and also changes down on its own ok).

After this I noticed the pump light on the dash flash, but go off. even when the light was on, I could still change gears fine with the paddles.

Driving up a slight incline, seemed to bring the pump light on for about 10 secs, then it goes off. I am still able to change gears with the paddles fine.

    A few newbie questions

1.) Does it sound like the pump is on the way out or something else?
2.) I have an option to get the motor for the pump repaired, is this likely to be enough?

Have you confirmed the fluid level? I would have this checked first thing.

There is not any "pump light", describe the light that illuminates to us.
What kind of "traffic", stop and go in first gear, or poking along upshifting and downshifting constantly??
This F1 is a fairly complicated system and just throwing parts at it really does not solve anything, you need to find a competent service facility with the tools (SD2 tester) and knowledge to properly diagnos this issue.
As far as rebuilding goes, I have opened a few failed pumps and for the most part they were all junk at that point. It's not just change the brushes and off you go, the armature is usually shot from heat as well, I suspect the bearings are not far behind. The pump vanes wear away sometimes causing the motor to go bad from overworking. My motto is take it out, throw it out...unless rebuilding is the ONLY option.
    I hope this helps !!

Did the pump fail soon from this situation?
