Deer hunting forums seem to be surprisingly unhelpful with this question; Whats the best tree climber out there now? Mt old tree stand (20 years old) is steel and terribly heavy. I find what looks like nice climbers that weight <20 lb such as these: http://www.treewalkertreestands.com/detail.asp?sku=ProMag%20XL&r1=chillpad&r2=armpads&r3=gunholder http://www.summitstands.com/productdetaillargerimage.aspx?id=81072_6.jpg&pid= Anyone with first hand advice for a LIGHT modern climber? Thanks
I don't know anything about hunting but I used to do some business with these guys and heard it is a good product: http://www.ameristep.com/
Thanks Chris. I went ahead and bought this one: http://www.treewalkertreestands.com/detail.asp?sku=ProMag%20XL&r1=chillpad&r2=armpads&r3=gunholder Hard to tell from web sites, but it is light and all American made.
Let me know what you think of that model. I'm not familiar with Tree Walker, but have used the Summit before and liked everything except fitting the top and bottom back together when carrying the stand out of the field. It's a bit of a pain to get those two pieces to fit together and strap down, but maybe I was doing something incorrectly. My workhorse is an API climber that has served me well for about ten years. You most certainly get an ab workout durning deer season, walking those stands up and down trees for the first time all year.
