Lars the black F40 was the only vehicle I have seen with the word TEST used. Typically for the factory tack on license plate there is a 4 digit number at the bottom of each plate. Supposedly each test driver has his own personal 'factory plate' which he is responsible for. Did any of the other cars that you saw have a "TEST" plate?

    Again, some gorgeous pics...thanks Lars!

On colours, i think that the green Scuderia is finished in Verde Zeltweg. Hard to tell in this weather...

On the reds, one must not mistake the current Rosso Monza for the much nicer (imo) more "bluer" shade of the same name of the mid nineties. Mental point to ask whether the latest Monza (which is ceramic-based) is effectively a reformulation of the old or a totally different colour in new-tech. My money is on the later.

I also had a 2001 456 MGTA in Rosso Fiorano; the latest hue appears fuller and less orangey in bright sunlight than I remember, so I trust that Ferrari have worked with PPG to improve coverage and tone on the previous formula.

Rosso Fuoco is imo gorgeous; it could easily be renamed Silk Red, such is the smoothness of its application; it is a colour that looks both formal and aggressive on a Ferrari, the latest 458 at Fiorano highlighting this fully.

    Decisions, decisions....

Awesome pics! It's pretty funny that some people who buy these cars go to resell them and advertise them as never seeing rain before...:D

Many more pics will be coming, though not of the Grigio Silverstone 458 (it only passed by once).

The 430 Scuderia and 16M were actually already out of production as I took my pictures of them being test driven. They must have been the very last cars built, probably before the factory closed down in August for the holidays.

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Well, not all the Ferraris that pass at this location are factory cars: this one is actually on its way to Carrozzeria Zanasi, an official workshop with two locations in Maranello. So, that explains why it doesn´t carry the factory test plates.

    Hi John,

Yes, I agree on Verde Zeltweg for the 16M, as it wasn´t the flat British Racing green.

I have some troubles myself now, keeping apart Rosso Fiorano and Rosso Monza. Are they both available on the 599 GTB within the normal colour range or is it only the Rosso Monza that is seen on so many 599´s?

And yes, Rosso Fuoco is very nice indeed! Quite expensive too :)

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

I am half-way confident that many 599s that appear to have Rosso Monza as their exterior colour are actually painted in a non-ceramic "equivalent" colour. Still extracampionario (at a lower cost) but more easily repairable away from Maranello.

Rosso Fuoco was available in the Atelier last December when I specced my 612. It is one of the Atelier colours that have gone "public", I assume as a cheaper alternative (again) to the new F1 colour that has started appearing on the production line.

    Great pics Lars!

Any spots of the 599XX? We saw it being driven on Fiorano last May. A set-up with weird exhausts. Maybe to mute them?

    Hi Larsini,

Great to see you're still the Super Spotter! :D

Our friend J-L left for Maranello yesterday to pick the very last Scuderia with his son. Maybe you've seen it on the road as well! I'll ask the specs when he's back home.

    Ciao, Pietro

    Lars,

What great pictures!! Thank you for enduring the cold rain to bring them to us.

No disrepect to you or your pictures, but I wonder why no one has never put a webcam outside the gates to capture cars like these driving by.

I know I for one would NEVER get any work done!! :D

I saw a 599XX (the Geneva show car) up close during a tour of the racing department, where it was parked in the same hall as all the FXX´s. A very impressive car, but... of course no pictures, since all the cameras had to be kept by the factory during the tour.

Buona sera Pietro, tu sei anche qui? :D

Is the J-L you mention a certain Dutch F-owner with a huge literature collection and a B as family name, or am I looking in the wrong direction now?

And yes, please ask for the specs (and VIN of course). If the specs are very special, I may be able to identify it from my pics. If it´s "just" another red one with grey stripes and wheels, it will be impossible though (spotted many of those).

BTW, how does he know that he gets the very last one? Did the dealer or the factory tell him that? Will there be any proof of it given to him, like a certificate or so?

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Ha! A webcam outside the gates would indeed be very entertaining, but at the same time very frustrating: To see only for a few seconds all the special cars that one couldn´t take pictures of... not so nice :)

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

PS: luckily the rain was only on Wednesday, while Thursday was o.k. and Friday even nice and sunny. So, things got much better with time :)

So, it´s time for the next batch of pics. Again including a very special 16M, finished in the new colour "Nero Matte" (= matt black). I saw FOUR different 16Ms in this colour during my stay!

Also amongst the pics another car driving to the Classiche department: a 250 GT PF Cabriolet series 2. Since classiche has opened, the already interesting stream of modern Ferraris driving in and out of the gates has become even more special with cars like these regularly joining them!

Finally, also seen in the pics, two different blue Californias, both with a red interior. A rare and - at least in my opinion - very nice colour combination.

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Four Matte Black 16M's in four days  That first one looks almost like Grigio Opaco in the pictures.

Thanks for the pictures Lars, looking forward to tomorrows update ;)

apparently you can no longer have a stripe on a grigio opaco car due to the matt paint.

Lars from the 4 matt cars you saw were 2 of them RHD?
