Did I catch the salesman on a bad day? Does anyone know him personally and this is just out of character for him? Wondering if I should give them a second chance as it took almost a year for a 430 spider with these options to come up on the market, but I gotta say I felt pretty bummed after being treated like that.

I purchased my 2000 360M from them a year ago from the salesman a year ago. I have always found him and the dealership in general to be helpful, friendly and supportive. So I think may have caught him on a bad day. That being said if you call back I would speak with Gianni. He is the most experienced salesman in the place. Also, they do tend to set their prices at what they believe is fair so there may not be much room to move.

    Good luck

Gianni treated me very well throughout my purchase process, although the deal did not work out due to factory related delays.

As others have said, he is the one to work with if you want to buy something from that dealer.

i had a similar bad experience with FoLI. You will get mixed reviews, but my feeling is that they will only treat you right if you let them overcharge you...short of that they have very poor attitudes. I heard that they recently escorted a customer out of the showroom because they had some sort of disagreement...i thought that the customer is always right? especially when you are spending six figures...

I had a very bad experience with those guys. I bought a scud from them, and all i heard was lies and misrepresentations. I would stay far away.

I've had a similar experience with FoLI a year ago when I was shopping for my 360. Their prices were about 10% higher than elsewhere and they were not willing to negotiate. If you speak to Gianni, I am sure he'll give his speech about developing a relationship with the dealer, and future car purcahses, etc, etc. Whether such relationship is worth extra $10-$20K is up to you to decide. I ended buying my car from Ferrari of New England -- their prices were lower and service was outstanding! Besides, every used car in Massachussets comes with a 90-day warranty. Btw, I have no affiliation with either dealer -- just sharing my experiences.

P.S. If I remember correctly, Gregg is the owner's son, so compalining to FoLI GM might not work that well :)

+1.......I had the same situation when I bought my Stradale. Ferrari of New England blew FOLI price away and were much better to deal with. FOLI needs a good lesson in customer service and should come back down to earth regarding pricing!!!

I had a bad experience w them as well

I went there to purchase a F430 spider and they let me wait almost 1 hour

they were busy but I had an appointment (I called them before coming) w them

Then I ask them to drive the car and they said only if we are close on the numbers of the deal

I had bought a 575M from them before, but not anymore. Now I will work w Ferrari of New England or Miller. There is no comparison.

    they lost one client

With all these negative comments and the poor economy; will they change, or just keep their S.O.P. ??

They are keeping their SOP -- I was there about 4 weeks ago with a friend who was shopping for 430 and had an all-to-similar experience.

Eugene, was it 1 particular sale person? I'm asking because I have been speaking with them about trading my 360 cpe for a spider and they have been pretty accomodating .

Its sad that because you gave a lower offer on a consignment car, that you think Steve Hayim was rude. I go in to FOLI at least twice a month to see what the inventory is because I am constantly looking (whether its a Quattroport or a 430) to gauge where the market is and try to determine if it leveled off and pull the trigger so I won't suffer the steep depreciation for another two-three years and my car would be worth $50,000.00 less. Its an endless battle that I can't determine and if I purchase the 430, I will probably take a bath. Having said that, the car you were looking at, which is very nice, was given to them on Consignment. The owner knows where his bottom line is and I am sure (been there before) that the seller told him a bottom line that would be acceptable. Not a dime less or he would take the car back because he would be loosing too much money in a short period of time. Unless the guy is desperate, he wants his price. Also, with FOLI selling the car, they have to back it up with a major (if needed) and any repairs for a limited time if its off warranty. FOLI has to stand behind this car no matter what happens within the first few months. A private seller walks away when he signs the title over to the purchaser. So, a premiun will be paid at the dealer. Also, Hayim doesn't want to offend the seller and look like FOLI wants a quick sale to make a quick commission. FOLI walks a thin line of representing the seller and the buyer. You, the purchaser have the "power of the pen" and take your business elsewhere. If you think that you could get a better deal privately, you should do it. I bet all dealers (reputable ones) will be within the same price of FOLI because they have to stand behind the vehicle. Gianni and Demetrio are two of the nicest salesmen that I've come across. The bottom line is that you offered a low price and you were turned down and you expected them to say OK, cars yours. There are plenty of 430's for sale all over the country (plenty!). Privatley, you may do much better, but its a Ferrari, which means things will go wrong and its nice to know if they go wrong within a few months, the dealer is there for you. No recourse with a private seller. You don't live in NY. Your best bet would be if you want a local car, pay the premium and go to a local dealer who you could go back to or pay less and get it from out of state and be prepared for anything that happens. Don't bad mouth a dealer because he didn't live up to your expectations with a phone call. Many of us have had positive experiences with FOLI. Good luck with your purchase.

I dealt with FOLI when trying to find a CS and they could not have been nicer. The one CS they had was not what I was looking for but they were extremely accomodating even allowing me to drive their CS and one of the 430's to help make up my mind which model I wanted. As an art dealer with a very indepth website I get people making offers over the phone all the time and it is nearly impossible to tell if they are serious or just casual lowballers looking for a steal! There are always 3 sides to every story you know.

Except that in my experience, if you do pay over the market, they will not be there for you, but will try to lie their way out of everything. If you want, I can provide copious details. Again, stay away. FOLI is not a "reputable" dealer.

To update all of this, like someone told me, the dealers DO read this board and Greg was very quick to PM me here and to email and call me apologizing for the whole thing. From my standpoint Greg made a standup move and all is cool with me. Having said that, it doesn’t look like I’ll be getting the car because while we did agree on a number for the car, the trade numbers just aren’t there (65 on my 01 360 spider, 20-35K (a big variable on the 328 without him seeing the car). I toyed with the idea of trying to sell both the F-cars myself, but I REALLY hate the idea of selling a car. I’d rather eat it a bit on a trade, but not eat it this much.

I didn't speak to a Steve, I spoke with Greg. And did you read my post? I didn't think he was rude because I gave a low offer; it was the change in tone from when I made my offer, which IS low market for this car. You can't tell me my offer was wholesale when I can go on all the online listing sites and find 07 430 spiders with 175K as an ASKING price.

And also, no luck for me with using a 'local' dealer as I live a in a swamp in Louisiana, and the closest dealer is all the way over in Houston. :)

BUT, like I said, Greg made a great move and all is well. Doesn’t look like the deal will happen, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from him or talk with him further down the road.

I meant Greg. Glad in the end it worked out for you. In life, sometimes you catch people on the wrong day (for whatever the reason). Not making excuses for him, but he corrected the situation. And for that, he's a man.

I have purchased many cars from FOLI and have never had a problem with making a fair deal. If there was a problem with the car they fixed asap. In one case I questioned the application of the protective plastic and said they could check it out the next time it went into the shop for service. Greg called me up and came to my house...Morris County NJ...to look at the car and had it sent back for a touch up the next day...He wanted me to be totally happy with the car from the get go. My Enzo needed some tweaks long after I purchased it from FOLI. FOLI has stood by the car and has made the necessary repairs to keep me happy.I also personally know of other customers having good dealings with FOLI. I have had problems with other Ferrari dealers. Life is short ... do what makes you happy...if FOLI is not right for you move on...FOLI has been right for me and my friends...Good luck...and whatever Ferrari you have or get in the future....drive ...drive....drive

Well, good for you. In my experience, unfortunately, they showed the level of used car dealer, who will say anything to get a sale and then they will make up any lie to cover their tracks. This behavior has not just been one particular salesman (although I can offer particular names if anybody's curious), but across the organization.
    Among the better whoppers:
    1. Carbon ceramic rotors, are thinner and exhibit lower durability on the track
    2. Tracking scud voids warranty

I have a long list of lies and misrepresentations I can share. Again, my advice to everybody is to stay away. It's your money, though.

i agree with Krzys...i would stay clear of FoLI. the apology came due to the negative feedback in the thread, not from the heart. if he was sincere he would of picked up the phone the same day...not after 3-4 days of getting bashed...he is just doing damage control.
