Wow, that matt black 16M is sweet.
Hi Hugo, Maybe the signs on the PF Cab have not yet been added after a restoration by Classiche? And to your second question: yes, five new books and a few Italian club magazines for the collection purchased at Shopping Formula 1. They even had a broschure of Hiramatsu's SP1 for sale, but at EUR 200 I let the opportunity pass. BTW, they had a good offer on some 1:43 model cars by Looksmart: just EUR 50 a piece (normal price EUR 120). So, I'm afraid I've now finally also started collecting model cars (bought a yellow 612, a dark blue Mondial t Cabriolet and a yellow FXX). BTW, I also just received 26 car auction catalogs sent from California, purchased on Ebay, so more shelf spece is urgently required Ciao, Lars T.
Grigio Opaco? Interesting, I didn't know about that name before - but always more than willing to learn. Anyone has a pic of another Ferrari in this colour for comparison? The name "Nero Matte" was given to me by a Ferrari employee, which he confirmed to be a new colour. But I must agree that the colour goes more towards matt grey. Anyone who can be 100% certain on this matter? A well-informed dealer or client for example? Ciao, Lars T.
No, all were definitely LHD, three of them wearing US-style side markers, so U.S. or Middle East market. Indeed none of the four had a stripe. Ciao, Lars T.
I think you are probably correct on both accounts. BTW, the first one has the star wheels, which were not yet seen on production Californias during my last stay in May this year. Ciao, Lars T.
Here's a pic I took back in August 2008, it might very well be the same colour. I think this one was the first matt street-registered Ferrari that I had ever seen, for what it's worth. Maybe it was an off-range colour then and has been somehow added to the custom range. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, in this case that´s actually Grigio Reventon (the colour of the rare Lamborghini), done as a one-off for this very car. I met the owner in Maranello last May, we had a chat and he showed me the car, including the colour sticker as proof, which indeed reads "Grigio Reventon". Ciao, Lars T.
Some new pics for tonight, including another special 16M: Grigio Alloy with a red interior! More Oktoberfest for me tomorrow, so the next batch might again be a bit later than usual. Ciao, Lars T. Lars, do you mean only the one posted by Aaron or are also considering the one I posted? Because I think they must be the same car, mine was also spotted in Marbella and had temp/export plates back then. "Mine" is s/n 160878. Anyway, I find Reventon and Opaco so similar, do you think it's actually possible to tell the difference when spotted separately?
They are the same car. Here is the Grigio Opaco 16M. I think Grigio Reventon is a slightly lighter shade of grey. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the amazing pictures Lars. Re that awesome black F40... ...apologies if I am missing something obvious and/or can't use the search engine properly, but what/where is the "Telaio Maranello thread"? Seeing that car reminded me of this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204788. Thanks.
Probably right about Blue Mirabeau, as the second California is sort of a flat blue in that light. NART Blue should be much darker than that California is. Some people describe NART Blue as the best color nobody orders! Thanks CH
awesome pictures Mr. Lars! Took the first two at the gates, and the 599 in Modena. EDIT this would have been fall of 2007. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lars, thank you kindly for taking and posting these along with the information. The black F40, Olympus' 612 (congrats BTW), the Verde 16M, Grigio Reventon 16M, etc all look amazing! Excellent thread
Here is another pic of the Grigio Reventon scud. My dealer told me Ferrari will never paint a car in a Lamborghini colour out of principle. Now I know better! Image Unavailable, Please Login
That second California is probably Mirabeau or NART, as both are very similar, Mirabeau being kind of a "new NART" as per the configurator NART isn't in the standard range anymore. Definitely TdF is darker than these two, and that first California is most probably TdF. As for the blue Cali in post #111, looks like Azzurro California, do you agree? There are so many shades of blue available now that it's easy to get lost.
FWIW, I was just looking at the configurator and I have the impression that the shades of most colours are very, very accurate, at least in their relation to each other. Interesting to note that Azzurro California is now only available for the California!
Actually I thought of Azzurro California in #111 when I saw the carbon rockers 16M with the blue convertible top; it is a very pale color. The blue Cali in #111 looks to be Avio Blue which was the color used on the FNA show car Scuderia when it first arrived. The Avio Blue didn't seem to popular with only a couple of Scuderia examples I recall seeing. One was photographed in the snow and the other was being tracked at Monza. Avio is much more common on the California. The early Swiss delivery red 16M was parked beside an Avio Blue Cali at the dealership. CH
BTW, the books purchased were: Ferrari, Men from Maranello World in Red 2008 L'a Andeda Asce (something like that, is by Gozzi about Scaglietti) Una Vita per L'Autombobile (by Enzo) Ferraris at the Mille Miglia (old book from the mid 1980s) Possibly the titles are not 100% accurate, as I list them from memory (I'm at work now, not at home) Ciao, Lars T.
Yes, the car is indeed 160878 (on both pictures). I have never seen Opaco myself, so I can't really comment from personal experience on similarities with Reventon.
