We only need one restaurant/coffee shop to want us and we have a minimum of that (VCR). EC Bagel would hate to see us go since it's there best business day every month too. :)

That's the old KMart store now owned by Home Depot. Thousand Oaks wont let them open a store.

Still, as a backup plan, we should start planning a secondary location, if we do get kicked out.

    Let's be prepared!!!!

    Thanks,

I was there (black Ferrari 348) and walked along side the khaki clothed person claiming to represent the landlord. He was dressed in work clothes (blue collar type - I thought) and carrying a satchel that looked to have flyers in it. Odd, very odd, I thought. In fact, I gave him about 2 minutes of credence then went about my business of enjoying the morning and the cars with my Godson. The security and police did not seem interested in backing up this individual's calls for clearing the crowd. I am disappointed that some people there felt the need to take him seriously and left. It was also more than just a few who left, but I can never tell the regular ebb and flow of the crowd. Still, I think this person's warnings were largely ignored, though much discussed among the crowd.

As for me, he has no clout until law enforcement and security start echoing his words and asking people to move out. The undertone was that some customers of businesses complained about finding convenient parking. Well, that happens. It appeared to me that this guy came off more like the village fool.

Still, VCR visitors patronize many of the businesses there, not just VCR, so there is a commercial benefit to the events. Plus the meets do not last all that long, so at worst it's a minor annoyance every Sunday with the last Sunday being the biggest. You know, there are many shopping centers that would not mind having hundreds of people flocking to their location as we do. Also, I think that the landlord and his "rep" need to canvass the tenants and determine just how much of an inconvenience all these people are. My guess is that the landlord is out of touch and at risk of alienating the many visitors that enjoy VCR much to the detriment of his/its tenants.

Donut Derelicts works so well at Adams and Magnolia in Huntington Beach in part because people are there from roughly 5:30 - 7:00 a.m. and the car crowd is gone before businesses other than the donut shop open. Basically no other customers to the shopping center are inconvenienced or turned away by the Donut Derelicts crowd. It is a win for everyone.

Pretty much the same for Crystal Cove until the residents got involved because of noise. I'd bet there wouldn't be a problem for VCR if the meet started and ended earlier, before regular business.

(Hate to throw in a negative $.02 because I have a lot of buddies who meet at VCR)

My analyst says there's always somebody who had an unhappy childhood-you know, the kid who was always left out-who sees a bunch of people having fun and just has to try and ruin it. I believe everything my analyst says, including that I'll be sane again someday.

Greetings from the North Central region. Just thought I'd say that, as I glance quickly down all of the forums and pass over this thread, its subject (without stopping to read it) looks like it might be about the discontinuation of Video Cassette Recorders. :p

    Carry on . . . :D

Holy crapolla. I just traded in my 8mm film projector for one of those new canfangled VCR thingies. The salesman told me they were the latest craze, now ya tellin' me they are being fazed out? Why?? They were just introduced ?? I just caint keep up with all this nu stuff.

If you REALLY have to move, the Westfield Mall in Woodland Hills has a huge car park that is empty on Sunday morning but I would stay at VCR.

There is no reason to leave. The management opens their mouths every few months, but has been ineffective.

    VCR is here to stay.

Until they bring the tow trucks and begin hauling us off to jail, I wouldn't worry about it. However it does make a great thread!

I now hear that the owners of a few of the businesses may file suit against the landlord for turning their customers away. Should get interesting. :)

Depends on which store. I believe the majority of the flack is coming from the market (I believe it's a Vons?) Their customers have a lot of problems finding parking spaces on the last Sunday of the month between 7-10 a.m. I know many of the stores are closed on Sundays while some stores have huge increased revenue.
