Bonjour..... I have a question : "France rushes to Polanski's defense"

I'm not an expert on the Polanski issue and I'm not trying to get into a debate on opinions.

I'd like to understand the over all thoughts from the French perspective. When I read about the support he receives in France, I wonder what is the motivation. Is it a cultural difference on the age of consent? Is it that Polanski is so highly regarded? Would the position be different if he was just an unknown french or US citizen?

I'm not judging an opinion, I'm trying to understand......

 

= Political supports. I think that the majority of all the French don't care nothing about Polanski. Simply some peoples in the show business and in the politics takes its defense and it is take over from the television.
If it was somebody unknown, nobody would speak about it.
