I'm really surprised that the 360CS weighs more than a standard 360.
I thought all that CF was supposed to save weight???

Makes more sense to compare the 458 to the regular 430, not the Scud.; 70 lb. increase.

They left out the 308 GT4 which was the ORIGINAL production V8. It is very sad that this car has so little respect or understanding........ Very sad and very wrong especially since it was the ONLY Ferrari available in the US in 1975, the year Ferrari won both World Championships. Also because Enzo Ferrari was so personally involved in the design and execution of this model.

Could not agree more, Robert - also named after Enzo's beloved son and an amazing design job to get such a well balanced mid-engine car with 4 seats - arguable better handling/ more nimble than the other 308s and 328s. Why do old heffer-dust misconceptions perpetuate about the 308gt4?

Also they left out the Mondial. And last but not least, they also left out the F40 - Enzo's last supercar.

    Robert and Grahame,

One of the things I find interesting is that people are making a big fuss about the mid-engined V6, 4-seater Lotus Evora today when Ferrari had made a mid-engined V8, 4-seater 308 GT4 in the mid-1970's. ;)

It's a very highly underrated car, in my opinion. :)

It's not a bad list and it is interesting, but there are admittedly a few omissions.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

theEvora is interesting. However an inline six from Bimmer would have been nicer!

Interesting how similar Ferrari's old tag line and Porsche's current tag line are: Ferrari - There is no alternative vs. Porsche - There is no substitute.

Even at 3152lbs, the 360 only weighs 42 pounds more than the 308?!?! That's astonishing! Why does everyone complain so much about weight escalation?? Forty-two pounds could be made up in weight of the driver!

    +1

Ferrari's first mid engine V8 production car was also the WORLD'S first mid engine V8 4 seater production car. As mentioned earlier it is an elegant solution considering the design constraints of such a layout. One of the few Italian cars where flying buttresses actually serve a function other than style.

Interesting ad you posted Robert. I note the part where Niki gave some input regarding visibility. If one were to look in from the point of the passenger quarter window and along where the interior cuts in by the rear seat head rest you find almost exactly where the drivers right shoulder would be - the driver turning his head to the right gets an unobstructed view out that entire quarter window. Absolutely brilliant.

A bit of trivia in that ad as well... Chinetti GARthwaite became part of what is known as ALGAR Ferrari today.

I would agree, but they do mention 2-seat on their chart and are probably referring to "entry level  " Ferrari 2-seat mid-engine V-8's. You could argue that the 308GT4 did have the option of a shelf in lieu of rear seats but I digress.

    I forgot to mention that C & D should've added the 308 GT4/Mondial to that family tree.

It may have pretty pictures, but, the chart is worthless if it's going to publish wrong data.
