Why all this worry about what the man saied about the 348...? It´s such a lovely car and i bet all you 348 owners love it and recieve great pleasure driving it!! My advice : forget what the man saied about the car and enjoy your car, drive it as much as you can!!!!! Pap is right !!! In the REAL WORLD the 348 is a very fast car!!! All the best
I agree that LdM could have easily avoided these statements. With his words he has nothing to gain but all to loose. It's fine that he has his own opinion, but he should certainly have kept it for himself given his position. With his remarks his offending some proud and happy 348 owners for no reason.
Can we PLEASE let this thread die. I really HATE seeing that headline everytime someone adds an opinion here.
Exactly !!! Buy it , own it and drive because it is the car you want !! Personally I think the 348 is a great car ..... it is mid-engined, makes great HP for such a small displacement engine and its performance can be improved even more with a few bolt-ons ........... !! +1 ....... it is normally very good natured ..... but at times the dissension gets old ..... I mainly just want to fraternize about our cars, general activities, talk upgrades, post/look at nice 348/355 and bikini babe pics ... ......................... .................. .............................. ..................
I heard the 355 was 12 seconds faster than a stock 348 at Fiorano. It was in some old Italian manuscript... Memoirs d'luca Montezemolo...
Excellent. I could care less what he or anyone else says about the 348, I bought it because I like it, not because of what Luca or anyone else thinks. And you are right, I receive nothing but compliments, just like all the other 348 members here.
I have owned many, many classic cars. I am a true car nut. But, my 348 is the only car I have owned, where I actually look at it in the garage most every morning when I leave for work. I have owned it for a year now, no it isn't new to me either......... From a practical point of view, i.e. resale value, the last thing you want is the manufactuerer bad mouthing your car! Nothing GOOD can come from that. I think a letter on behalf of the "collective" here is an appropriate response.
I am very happy and very proud to own the worst Ferrari ever made. I have no intention to ever sell it, I will add more Ferraris to the collection if I ever want to get a different model, but the worst Ferrari ever made will stay with me forever.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ....Sorry have to do this, i am only trying to help.. Look at this new video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvrlI3xGRaE Heres the translation into English from Italian... (borrowed from another forum) "In 1991 Montezemolo bought himself a yellow 348. One day he finds himself at a red light and a black GTI pulls up to him and beats him to the next light. Guy rolls down his window and in a Roman accent says "Monteze' this goes better than that". He goes back to the office without telling anyone what just happened and requests specs on the 348. This engineer by the name of Lombardi says to him "I'm the Ron Dennis of Ferrari". He goes on to say the 348 has the best in class acceleration. Montezemolo sits quietly through the presentation. He then says "Boys...unfortunately I'm a client of this ****ty car. It makes too much noise and barely moves". He then invited Niki Lauda to try this car (348) and he completely agreed with him."
There have been many times when I wanted to meet that engineer just so I could punch him in the nose... :X
I would like to say another thing. My 348 is THE most unreliable car I have ever owned, ever. I have a '97 Ford Expedition that has just about 270,000 on it, and a '90 Acura Integra that has 320,000 mile on it. The Ferrari only has 69,000 miles on the odometer and I'm still fixing things. Pisses me off. I blame Ferrari for it's piss poor quality, and their lack of concern. Other owners that have spent the time dialing their 348's in as they SHOULD HAVE BEEEN from the FACTORY enjoy their cars tremendously. Knowing now what I know about how Ferrari treats the owners of the cars they make, I would have never owned one. Why do I keep the car? Because I like the styling, the sound, and the Brotherhood. I'm a long time fan of the F1 team and it makes me feel good to own a car associated with a legend in racing. That and I'm so far into it now I'll never be able to get back the money nor the time I have into. So little by little I will make my 348 how it should have been from the get go. What do you know about that? A little guy like me has more pride in his "unloved" car than the factory that designed and made it. Shameful. Long live the 348 Brotherhood.
