Can lambos now be imported? http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/SafeVehicles/Importation/Usa/VAFUS/list/LAMBORGHINI.htm "ADMISSIBLE NOTES 1999 TO 2009 From September 1st, 1999: All models (see note 1) Note 1: Please be informed that Lamborghini Canada requires that all importers contact Lamborghini Canada to determine the exact nature and costs of modifications. The modifications vary by year and model and may be expensive. The possible modifications may include: daytime running lights, electronic immobilization system, metric odometre and speedometer labels. All modifications must be performed and documented by an authorized Canadian Lamborghini retailer and must be completed before a recall clearance letter can be issued by Lamborghini Canada. Please submit all inquires in writing to: [email protected]" I remember a couple years back Lambos were all listed as inadmissable and then eventually took off the RIV list due to various inside reasons.
Hi Guys, I have read through this thread and I was wondering if anyone knows the current cost of bringing in a 95 355. I am in Ontario. As well, will anything change next year when the car is 15 years old. Does it make it any easier? Thanks for any help. So far this is what I assume: 6.1% Duty 5% GST DRL's (What does this cost approx?), and an out of province inspection. And since I am in Ontario I will be paying the full 13% (8% PST 5% GST) Any help is appreciated. Thanks
The total will be about 19.1 in taxes. You will also need a letter from FNA stating that all the recalls have been done before you import. Then you will need to have FoO inspect the car upon arival. Don't know toomuch about it but there are some brokers or shops that can help you with the process if you like.
Thanks Bones! Thats what I needed to know. Now I should go off on a rant about our ridiculous Canadain Government and their tax laws..................but I won't. Thanks again.
Prostock, Check the manufactured date of the 95 355, this is what riv will base the 15+ year on. If you are getting a 95 355 that was made in early 94, it may already be over 15 years old and you can skip dealing with FoO.
The Canadian Dollar is climbing just peaked at $0.925 USD. What sort of value will the Canadian Dollar be producing the near future, any predictions? Will it go back up to par or down to $0.85 USD as it was less than a month ago?
I know a few guys that work in the Currency trading business, they think its is going keep getting better over the next 6 months. We could easily come back to par. Its always a craps shoot though.
Always get an PPI before you buy that 355. Continued strong oil prices will certainly push up the value of the loonie. I think it will hit par by the end of the year, but the banks always get their cut regardless of the level it is trading at... CH
Would anyone have an idea if modifications would be required to a U.S. spec 2000 or 2001 Ferrari 550 imported into Canada? Thanks for any replies.
I recently came across a 2006 ferrari f430 for 125,000 USD. I was wondering what it would take to bring the car here including all taxes and other costs including bumper changes?
like Vasco said, bumper changes are no longer required on any car that has been deemed fit for amaerican roads AND it's on our admissability list, also if F.N.A tells you your cluster has to be changed its BULL **** ANY cay with km's AND mph both showing does not have to have the cluster changed. Just hire me and i'll do it! Saves you about $3000-$5000 this way.
Considering importing an 02 360 Spider from the US. Can't imagine there would be any mods other than DRL's. Any insight? I would also imagine that if you provide RIV with a printout from a US dealer indicating that there are no open campaigns on the vehicle, one would avoid the Recall clearance fee. Any help with this would be appreciated.
James, Tried to send you a PM but your mail box is full. Do you have an email address that I can use to send an inquiry?
Hi Ian, sorry I will re-subscribe tommmorow I have too many PM's in there I can't delete. I have received your email and responded earlier, and will write back tommorow with the rest of the answers. Thanks! James Simpson
You would be correct, however PLEASE ask someone who knows what they're doing for any advice or with any questions you may have that could potentially help you with any costly mistakes that might happen. LOT'Ts AND LOT's AND LOT'S of 360's around now and more to come! in my opinon now's not the time, another month and there will be deals a plenty!
Hey guys James knows his stuff He imported a Bentley for me last week - If your a busy guy who cant be bothered with the hassle I see James service as great time saver as well as saving the moolah by buying in the US. Once James knows how break his posts into paragraphs he`ll be PERFECT. lol Seriously I know he gets schtick for his posting style but hes imported 3 cars for me in the last year and provides a great service.
hahaha funny thing was I was thinking when I responded to a few threads yesterday that I should really learn how to write in proper sentences. I can spell well but punctuation is NOT my strong point!
Agreed. I haven't used James yet but with all the BS involved in bringing an F / L / P -car into Canada it makes sense to use a professional to ensure no stone goes uncovered. It's possible that the savings alone in conforming costs might help offset the importation fees and having someone act on your behalf could prove to be priceless.
I've called 2 Ferrari dealers and spoken to a couple of owners who have recently imported cars into Canada .... If the car is newer than 15 years old ( from date of manufacture....not model year) the car must go through a Compliance Inspection at an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealer...for a charge of $5000. Then Ferrari US ( there is no Ferrari Canada) will issue you a Recall Clearance Letter....for a further $2000 !! They aren't making this easy, these bastards ! If the Ferrari 355 you are bring up is a 1995 model but built say in October 1994....you can bypass Ferrari US and their dealers completely....and just pay the 6% duty...the 6% GST , the RIV fee of roughly $200 and your provincial PST !! I'm about 2 weeks away from pulling the trigger on a 1995 355....(just waiting for the dollar to hit PAR) because even with the $7000 charge....it's still cheaper than buying one in Canada !! Any new or further info would be welcomed....because we're all in this together !!
Welcome BarrieM5. Good luck in your possible purchase. Besides the dollar parity and all that....did you research the car in question to see if it has spent any "roof time" or has "gone for a swim"? You gotta factor everything in! Serviced? Take care.
First off never ever ask a dealer of whatever make your intending to import, without getting into the details I can guarantee you 100% that you do NOT have to involve a Ferrari dealer AT ALL when importing a Ferrari, however one still in warranty I recommend you do although it's not nessecary. It's usually best to let someone who knows what they're doing take care of things for you because in cases like this they would have advised other routes besides going through a dealer and saving you their $5000 bullchit(purposely misspelled) money grab. Also one quick point; RECALL CLEARANCE LETTERS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED BY THE R.I.V ANYMORE ONLY LETTERS FROM THE MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES,(screen shot) it's irrelevant what Ferrari or Porsche or Bentley or whatever dealer say's at the end of the day it's up to the R.I.V and Transport Canada what can come into Canada and what can't, and this is a fact that was told to me by the R.I.V when I imported a Bentley LAST WEEK. Never ever ever call a dealership, call the R.I.V with any questions you may have. Thanks James Simpson p.s come on guy's i've been saying this for what 4-5 years now....
