Bama lost the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl . In fact I would call what Utah did to Bama a good old fashioned ass beating. :)

In today's New Orleans paper: http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2009/09/players_and_fans_cant_forget_t.html

snippet: "Once upon a time, before a divided national championship, recruiting wars and, perhaps, a cultural divide made LSU and Southern Cal the most bitter unplayed rivalry in sports, the Tigers and the Trojans clashed in an epic struggle. That time was 30 years ago, and the battlefield was Tiger Stadium. It remains one of the best games played at that famous venue, and from the opening gun it was obvious things would unfold on an earsplitting level...The Trojans were 3-0, the undisputed No. 1 team in the nation. LSU was unranked and removed from the game's top rungs. Although LSU was 2-0 and had demolished its first two opponents, Colorado and Rice, by a combined score of 91-3...USC followed the pregame ritual of attending a movie and Budde -- whose description of Tiger Stadium, "It makes Notre Dame look like Romper Room, " now hangs on a banner in LSU's football trophy hall..."

    companion piece: http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2009/09/former_lsu_football_player_ben.html

snippet: "That's like asking who snitched on Nixon, " he said, laughing. "Wait 'til I'm dying..."

Not looking too good for us heading into the game tomorrow. One of our better CB's (Jojo Nicolas) is out, and our best blocking back is out also (Pat Hill). Withouth that extra blocker to pick up the blitz Oklahoma can have an easy time harassing Harris. Bradford is not going to start, but I think the backup is plenty capable. I still hope to win, but I think our chances just went from maybe 35% down to maybe 20%...
Hopefully the OU players think we are very weak, like we thought last week going to Blacksburg.
    GO CANES!!!

Oops, June Jones, coach of SMU, came on TV yesterday and said there has not been any good football in the Metroplex in the last 31 years.....Seems he was not here for the 60 point thrashing TCU gave SMU last year. TCU vs SMU Saturday evening at 7pm with chance for rain. I think TCU is taking the game very seriously..........#11 vs unranked----one of the classic matchups to help start the season. We have seen many of the ranked teams go down already to the unranked. I, being a TCU supporter, certainly hope they take the game seriously....Do not want to add to the "upset" statistics.

As mentioned above weeks ago, the first real challenge to Florida comes on Saturday when they play LSU @ LSU, in the evening, after Florida had this week off.

Because LSU and Alabama both have a shot at Florida, the entire Top 4 controls its own destiny at this point. Win out and you are in the national championship game. No playoffs required.

Texas has no viable challenge. If they lose any games it would indicate a team much weaker than the polls imply.

Now, for anyone watching the LSU game yesterday, it should have been clear that Les Miles made coaching error after error, such as the gargantuan mistake of going for it on 4th down when they were up by 6 points and in field goal range. Being up by 9 would have put them "2 scores" up in traditional football thinking because 1 touchdown would not have cost them the lead.

LSU's talent is being held back by their coach.

TCU 39 SMU 14 in a monsoon. No scoring in first quarter. SMU led a the half 7-6. TCU lost two fumbles inside the SMU 15 and had a pass intercepted inside the 20 while moving, all in the first half. TCU answered with 33 points in the second half and SMU scored late in the fourth to take it to 14.

I got totally soaked to the bone. I was amazed at how many people showed up for a game in these conditions.

TCU held SMU to -16 yards rushing in the game..........

TCU now ranked 10th. Play Air Force next week.............in Colorado.........

I can, OU was working behind a young inexperienced O-line (aka cause of Bradford's injury). They didn't have Bradford, Gresham is out for the season and they lost their #1 receiver in the game. On top of that the play calling was terrible and the game mismanaged, the backup (Landry Jones) wasn't the reason that OU lost that game. And yet it still brought a smile to my face to see them go to 2-2 on the season with the third loss coming on October 17th.

Now onto another crazy point of the season, wth is up with Houston? They beat Oklahoma State, they beat Tech by 1, they're calling themselves BCS busters, and yet they let UTEP put 58 points on them....58 POINTS!!!! that's more points than UTEP had offensive yards against Texas last week. I don't even know what to think about that.

LSU is hands down the luckiest team I've ever seen play any sport at any level.

Frank, from here on out, I will never bet against the Gambler. You never know how it's gonna happen, but somehow, some way, he finds ways to win late. He's been pulling wins out of his ass so much, it must be as wide as the Grand Canyon by now, but still, a W is a W, especially on the road in the SEC.

And you get to put Florida in Red Stick --- AT NIGHT. I capslock "AT NIGHT" because a night game in Baton Rouge changes the spread at least one score to LSU every time. Should be a good one.

Tebow has no business playing Sat. Period.

He already has used one get out of concussion-jail free card. And you only get two in life like his.

He needs to take it VERY easy until the end of Oct at the very latest
