I would be surprised if Tebow does not start Saturday. Meyer has a tendency to be optimistic about injuries. I sure hope that he does not get hurt again, but you know the defense is going to be trying to knock him out at every opportunity.

There seems to be more upside to not playing Tebow. If LSU wins, it will be glossed over kind of like the OU team without Bradford. If Florida wins, they will get all the accollades for beting a #4 team without the player that has been the leader for over two years. No risk of re-injury.

If Tebow plays and Florida wins (without Tebow getting hurt again) then all is well. If florida loses then they took an unnecessary risk playing Tebow. If Tebow gets hurt the team will lose its leader, the coach will be looked at unfavorably, and the rest of the season will be lost.

I think a UF - LSU game without Tebow will be a good, close game.

florida doesnt need tebow to win on saturday, their defense is going to shut that anemic offense right down.

Not sure I'll be posting much in this thread anymore. My Noles are an embarrassment.

    +1

I gave up watching after the first quarter.

After Bowden's comments last week it's pretty clear the guys age is showing and he just doesn't give a **** anymore. The talent is there, it's just not being utilized properly.

A friend of my son, Nick Tausch, just tied Notre Dame's record for most points by a kicker in one game. (17 I think) And he's a freshman.http://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=818608
They went to High school and now college together and played soccer on the Jesuit varsity team.
Kind of cool to know a future star.

My last year at FSU (1976) was Bobby's first year. He almost beat Florida in the last play of the game, which was amazing because FSU was really, really, really bad before he arrived.

However, I'm sad to say that was 33 years ago. Is time to go Bud. You have had a good run, but you ain't never gonna catch Joe Pa so just let it go.

Yep, Joe is the man. And he always will be.

I've been a FSU fan since my aunt and uncle moved to Tallahassee when I was around 8 or 9 years old and went to the campus. Even when I wasn't a football fan I still kept track of FSU football. I'm so ready to see them explode again and become a top contender with UF.

He can't since he is something like 40 wins behind him now in Div 1A (and, no, I'm not excluding the wins taken by the NCAA. I am referring to his days at Samford.)

Kind of sad about Bowden, really. I have heard many times he is a really gracious person.

Jim Smith is pretty powerful, if I were guessing I would say this is it for Bobby.

I think BB will stay through the end of the 2010 season. This year is not working out for him, but I think next year will be better. The fans are really going ape over a few losses. Last year Miami went 7-5 in the regular season but the fans were generally positive. I don't get all the negativity. It is a game after all, and it is not worth looking like a jerk to belittle a person who has dedicated his life (very successfully) for program that seems to be abandoning him now.
I enjoyed 1998 going to the Miami games with the other 20k fans and getting great seats and parking exceedingly cheap. I did not know at the time that I was watching a future NFL team.

He's a goner. TK is retiring and Smith is very powerful. They don't want the new university president coming in with a mess so they are cleaning house. I heard on the radio they're working out the contract with Fisher now.

I personally think it is BS, Bowden built that program and should be allowed to retire with a little dignity.

Bowden may have built it but he also tore it down by overstaying his welcome. You gotta know when to fold 'em .

An old college buddy of mine from Bama grew up in Tallahassee.
This is a pic of him and his brother sitting on Coach Bowden's knees in the early 80s:

I wish FSU could succeed again with Bowden, but I am afraid his style has been passed over in this day and age. DADGUM!

BB's a super nice guy from what I hear. A business associate lives down the street and raves about how nice he is.

He's still listed in the Tallahassee phone book, I might give him a ring one day to rap, Gator to Nole.

Perhaps, but everyone including me was saying that about JoPa a few years ago too until he whipped everyone's arse again the last few years...and this is coming from a Buckeye so it isn't easy for me to say that about the old geezer.

Could TCU be a BCS buster this year????

Air Force this week. Been playing better than anticipated. So has Colorado. Then UNLV, BYU.

Sometimes it pays to take the classy road --

For all that he has done, Bobby deserves all our respect.

No, me neither. TCU has a very good rushing defense but is vulnerable over the middle in pass defense. That is where they have been stung so far this year. They can be very explosive and score quickly at times. Andy Dalton, the QB, is really starting to mature in his decision making. He should surpass the school record for passing yards this year and still have next year to play also.

TCU has never gotten the credit I felt they deserved for the way they played. Like last year against Oklahoma. They were stung for 21 points in the first quarter and then held Oklahoma to only 14 points in the final three quarters. And this was when Oklahoma was running up 60 points against all their opponents. In their bowl game one the announcers said of Oklahoma, "Oklahoma has not seen a defense this good since playing TCU early in the season". At the Poinsettia Bowl TCU came in with losses to Oklahoma and Utah and then beat formerly undefeated Boise State by turning up the defense the second half. Started 18th and finished 7th for the year. But not good enough to be a BCS buster.

This year they included Virginia and Clemson there in their schedule. Although rated higher than Clemson they were not favored. They were definitely supposed to lose in "Death
Valley" but turned it on and came out on top. They put these two schools on their schedule in order to play some ACC schools who are usually BCS contenders. Some people will say that the TCU schedule is weak and they do not play any real championship contenders. This could be true as they are not playing UT or Florida or any of the other "real teams". We will just have to wait and see how it turns out.
