If I'm correct, body number corresponds to model type in the designated country for that year. Body number 0 means that the body number aspect of MODIS isn't working - a problem I've experienced on many occasions.

Ergo, I believe that your 575M (135171) is the 38th 2004 575M imported into the United States of America. I do not believe that transmission type has any effect on the body number of a car.

As an example of why I believe this to be true, US Enzo 133035 has body number 60 (what I believe to represent as the 60th 2003 Enzo imported into the United States). Canadian Enzo 133117 has body number 1 (one), and I believe that 133117 is the first 2003 Enzo imported into Canada.

Fou, please go back and re-read what I posted. I said that I believe Terry's is the 38th 2004 575M imported into the United States. I believe the Enzo example in my last post illustrates this theory more clearly. I apologize for any confusion.

EDIT: Okay, that was one hell of a disappearing act.

A new 575M, UK spec with metric gauges, received via PM.

Digital instrument panel repair, steering box overhaul, and steering wheel repair next. Maybe some wheel choice images.

I believe this is different than how body numbers were done years ago - possibly a third method of assigning body numbers to Ferraris. Unfortunately I don't have enough body numbers to make a definitive determination.

Thank you very much for keeping this thread going, and for everything you've recently added. I'm just now catching up on it - been insanely busy since my cross-country move. Loving every bit of the west coast though. :)

    Beautiful car Terry!

What do you think of the GTC exhaust? Does it sound the same as it does on on the 612 HGTS/HGTC?

Have you considered painting the the lower body parts (which are now black) in red? I have seen several Maranellos with painted lower body parts and I think they look fantastic. Of course, it all comes to down to a matter of taste.

Superamericas came with the lower body parts painted from the factory. Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea:

Carlo- I really like the exhaust note. It is actually a good compromise between scream and quiet cruise. The OEM valves actually help on that. Nice sound at idle because the valves are open at idle. Have not heard an HGTC 612 so no idea on that. Ferraris are a little scarcer in New Mexico than in Monaco. Unless I am at my technician's shop, I see less than 5 in any given year.

I owned earlier Ferraris and they all had black trim on the bottom, so will leave it that way.

Hey, Gene, I just saw your car at VCR back at the end of August. Beautiful car!

The assembly number is under the hood, up and to the left a few inches from the paint sticker (see below).

Thank you, Terry. Is it safe to infer from your post that this car is in Australia, or was in Australia at some point?

Whilst looking for my 575 in Australia I accumulated these SN's of cars advertised in Australia. These are Australian delivered cars, therefore their VIN prefix is ZFFBT55D000 before the SN#. The English registered cars are ZFFBT55C000

136594 mentioned above was a car I saw in England (Cortese, Bath) in June 2008 when I was contemplating buying a car and bringing to Australia. Another car I saw in England
was at Lancaster Ferrari (Seven Oaks) was Argento Nurburgring/Blu Scuro and SN was #132360 (Assembly = ??)
Both of these cars are English delivered cars, hence have 'C' in the appropriate place.

Australian Cars advertised for sale in last 9 months
    2005 575 Rosso Corsa 137846
    2003 575 Rosso Fiorano 133215
2003 575 Arancio Atlas (out of range colour) 131775
    2003 575 Rosso Corsa 130919
    2002 575 Rosso Corsa 129494.
All of these are Australian delivered, F1’s … no 6 speeds delivered new to Oz AFAIK
There is a 575 HGTC, Rosso Corsa, advertised in Western Australia that will definitely be an English import (none delivered new to OZ) (Sn ??)

My 575 is ZFFBTC000128201. It has an English identifier ('C') as it was imported as a new car into Hong Kong, bought to Australia in January 2007.

    Regards
    Philip C

Gene- Carbon would also love to have the date of manufacture and the engine number, plus paint and interior color for his records. Carbon is the historian in the bunch, and my interest is helping owners and potential owners understand what options and upgrades go with individual cars.

Locations on all the labels are posted earlier in this thread.

Carbon- 136594 is a car Philip saw while visiting the UK.

Philip- Thanks for posting. Previously I had only shared that info with Carbon.

    Terry and Carbon,

I retrieved the assembly number to go with 138765. Assembly number is 56095. Car is silver exterior with black interior. F1, red calipers, daytona power seats, shields, 19" modulars, hi power hi fi with sub and prewired battery charger.

Car currently has just shy of 2800 miles. I will grab engine number and others Carbon may want later and advise.

Thanks for tracking this information. I love this car so much I just sold my 2007 F430 Spyder so I could funnel the funds for a 599 HGTE. Love the 12 cylinders with ponies in the front! Cant't wait for the new arrival.

Gene- It sounds like a really nice car and virtually brand new. Hard to not love the V12s. Just nothing else like them. Please post some photos when you get them.

A new 599 HGTE, too? Can you adopt me? Better yet, I adopt you.

Here is your car on the list. Plus the updates list so you can tell what is on your car. Looks like you got most of the goodies on yours.

    Resurrected from an earlier thread.

Looking at my 575M gauges the other day and noticed some interesting translations from metric to English measurements. Thought your oil temperature gauge had 20 deg F markings? Guess again, 120 deg to 230 deg (110 deg) is not divisible by 20. Actual markings are 18.33 degs each, so the gauge reads:

    120.00 deg F
    138.33 deg F
    156.67 deg F
    175.00 deg F
    193.33 deg F
    211.67 deg F
    230.00 deg F
    etc

Maybe your car is not as warmed up as you thought.

Aberration, right? Guess again because the water temperature gauge looks like 10 deg markings, but they are actually 8.75 degs each. So the gauge reads:

    140.00 deg F
    148.75 deg F
    157.50 deg F
    166.25 deg F
    175.00 deg F
    183.75 deg F
    192.50 deg F
    201.25 deg F
    210.00 deg F
    etc

Only one left and that is oil pressure. Looks like 10 psi markings, but are actually 14 psi, so the gauge reads:

    0 psi
    14 psi
    28 psi
    42 psi
    56 psi
    70 psi
    etc

Here are the actual gauges on my new yellow tachometer panel. Check for yourself.
