Carcity has moved back to their old location in Happy Valley, im guessing due to the low car sales recently they just cannot afford to maintain that huge space in Chai Wan.

Yes, think they moved about a month or so ago. What a shame as the space in HV is barely enough for a handful of cars, not to mention they're also offering some car wash service so definitely not as pleasant as the one in Chai Wan.

I used to take a drive down Eastern Corridor, swing by them and check out the cars & chat. I'm gonna miss those days...

Car City could not survive as a broker ONLY in a small market like HK. almost everyone know owners of exotics. The sad news is the old Happy Valley showroom, its really just a renovated apartment garage and now by offering spa service, the place is not a potential exotic owner like to visit. would U buy a used car there??? over $ 1 mil???

Car City and SPS have some common shareholders but seperate books. Chai Wan too large and not enough pass by traffic. Happy Valley better location for retail customers. Surprised they can move back as that space cannot be used for commercial purposes. It is a residential carpark

There was a shop in happy valley just up the street from CarCity that operated out of a parking garage, they got in trouble for putting up a glass window and door to make it look more like an actual showroom, after that they had to remove the glass and put parking lines in the garage, also i think remove the hydraulic lift they also installed into the floor. Then they went out of business.

I think since they have been doing biz there for so long nobody would really mind going back there, its closer to central and there are things to do around the area not like in chai wan where you were just going there specifically to visit carcity.

Actually Happy Valley consists of a lot of rich people with exotic cars regardless of whether they live there or not; its just a rich people's hangout, so why not?

Well, that's the original location for Car City and tons of exotic trades went thru that tiny spot before they move to the Chai Wan showroom...

And if they have been acting as a principal in *ALL* their inventory, they probably would have gone bust by now...

Hey guys...happy mid-autumn festival to you all. Ive got some friends coming from overseas who have seen all the stunning photos of the sunday morning drives at Tai Mei Tuk / Luk Keng and they would like to go and experience it first hand. Being fairly new to the HK car scene myself can someone confirm the best time to be there to see the cars? Ive been told that they start to appear around 6am...but it would be embarrassing to get out there with my guests so early if this info is not accurate! Can someone please confirm? Cheers!

We did venture out on Sunday morning and found that the cars assembled between 0730 - 0830 at the TMT carpark. It seemed pretty quiet compared to other days but still there was a good showing of nice machines. Things got more interesting later on around 1000 at LK when a Zonda F, F50, and California rolled up. Here's a few snaps from yesterday morning:

I still don't understand why people have to touch the cars that they are taking pictures with, its ridiculous.

Yeah...we cringed each time that bunch of sunday bush hikers touched the cars. One interesting quote from their conversation whilst photographing and manhandling the cars (translated from chinese): "wow...this car costs about a million dollars", (next person responds)..."nah not that much......maybe $300K odd". I looked at my friend with a wry smile and we both thought...."if they only knew!"

    Greetings

Below is a car that may have been spotted on Hong Kong roads up till January 2007.

A 2002 575M, #128201. 1st registered July 2002 with LY7053, (through Italian Motors and salesman - Herbert Adamczyk) and then serviced regularly until purchased by an Australian ex-pat in October 2005 (Golden Century Motors Co Ltd. and salesman - Edmund Wong). 128201 was bought back to Australia, as a personal import, in January 2007.

I have just purchased the car from him, with 8,240kms on the clock, and finished a 450km drive back home, the trip was wonderful.

I know the name of the purchaser (in the owner's book) and the company whose name the service and warranty were undertaken. ... I have not given their names here in case cultural reasons may be an issue.

The car was delivered, as far as I know, in Rosso Corsa. It has options of Daytona seats, rear shelf upholstered in leather, side shields and red calipers. It is missing its car cover bag (important for Concours), and the 575 luggage set was also delivered with it AFAIK.

It has undergone, at some stage prior to 2005, a colour change to Blu Mirabeau. I have had the car meticulously looked at and there is no evidence of prior damage. I am very interested, for completeness, in knowing the history of the car from 07/2002 to 10/2005, and why the colour change. Also the service book (with the car) has never been filled out by the agent when serviced, which is disappointing.

If anyone could help, please PM me, otherwise I am more than happy to reply in this thread.

    Regards
    Philip

    Congrats on your purchase Philip.

The above facts are worrying. The pattern is usually that the car is smashed, repaired by an outside shop with a colour change and then resold by an outside dealer (often to an expat). It is highly unusual to change the colour from resale red to blue - blue is usually a very unpopular colour with Chinese as it is associated with the movement of a corpse to a cemetary.

For the car to be with an outside dealer in 2005 when it was only 3 years old is unusual at that time. Highest residual value was at that time almost certainly with Italian Motors on consignment.

Hong Kong has an approximately 100% first registration tax and it is highly unusual for a relatively young car to leave Hong Kong unless it is escaping a past that renders it unsalable. I know of several cars that have gone to Oz for exactly that reason. When your car left Hong Kong it made no economic sense for it to do so.

The fact that your inspection did not reveal collision damage is not conclusive - there are outside shops in Hong Kong that are highly skilled at concealing it. There is big money at stake as some unscrupulous owners will go to great lengths to minimise the mega-depreciation hit of an accident to a young Ferrari (which yours was at the time of the colour change). This includes sourcing replacement parts from outside Hong Kong so the local dealer has no information.

Hopefully your car is an exception. I have no personal recollection regarding your actual car.

On China drive it is exponentially a bigger phenomenon. Sinopec somewhere far away that has rarely if ever seen anything with 2 seats let alone loud and red. You get thousands of fingerprints. I don't mind at all - if someone gets a happy memory with a photo that can only be good. I let kids sit in my car for photos so I get fingerprints inside and out. Off to Hainan by Ferrari on Friday - can hardly wait.

Really? call me crazy but i always compare the situation with having model/celeb girlfriend and people asking to take pics with her but then grabbing her ass while they are at it. :)

16M to Hainan must be amazing!!! Weather is perfect for it

Never thought of it that way - to me just a car.

I am going to drive my 575HGTC - more comfortable for a long journey. 16M is sold. Spider is great for cruising on Hainan but not so great for the journey there and back

Last time I drive to Hainan with Lambo club, each car was fined 4000 renminbei for speeding.
