My first post I have a 1983 non-Lambda K-Jetronic CIS injected 308 QV GTS I have just replaced most of the fuel system components with new and rebuilt parts. Before I crank this up I have a couple of basic questions. 1. Anyone have proper torque specs on 8/10/12 mm banjo fittings? 2. I have access to an Innovate LM-1 A/F meter. I expect that I need to sniff before the catalytic converters (not that they probably do much after 26 years). Is the proper way to use the individual cylinder sniff tubes and if so or if not, how and where to mount the O2 sensor? BTW - I do have the gauge to check pressures before messing with the mixture adjust and it had been run withing the past month - just not very well.
No -- he's adding the O2 sensor that is part of the LM-1 A/F meter. Best place IMO would be in one of the header collectors or in one of the cat inlet ends (because of the non-combined '83 exhaust layout you will only be able to measure a group of 4 cylinders from one bank with a single O2 sensor).
Looks like I might want to buy a couple of their weld bungs and plugs so I can insert the O2 sensor on the collector tubes of either bank of cyclinders whenever needed. Anyone have an idea on the banjo torques - based on research I am leaning towards around 12 lb-ft on the 8mm 15 lb-ft on the 10mm and 18 lb-ft on the 12mm with new crush washers of course. Thanks
I think that's a good approach for your exhaust layout situation. In the TR documentation that I have I think the specified torques for the banjo bolts are (the translations identifying the various components are not super-clear): 8 x 1 = 6.25 ft-lb 10 x 1 = 11 ft-lb 12 x 1.5 = 17 ft-lb but they felt a little lowish to me (although I confess that I've broken more bolts than I've had fall out ), so I went with: 8 x 1 = 8 ft-lb 10 x 1 = 13 ft-lb 12 x 1.5 = 20ish ft-lb (but the access didn't allow a torque wrench so did this just by feel with an open-end wrench) I would also be interested to hear other's opinions/experience for the torque values for these fasteners.
