Deep down, i think Mclaren were under instructions not to win the WDC title that year after the Spygate saga. I mean, how could Lewis be so cool for every race then suddenly lose it at China and Brazil?

He will henceforth be known as Jenson Villneuve as far as I'm concerned.

Or if he doesn't win, I'll call him Jenson Panis. That was mean.

While I don't subscribe to that theory the fact that reasonable people give it credence says volumes about the level of distrust the sport has earned. IMO that is Max's biggest sin.

Well Dave IMO it was quite plausible that Mosley told RD and I did say it at the time, IIRC I said something like LH will be told to go down in last round like a KO'd boxer, fix it.!!

Part of the fine for the spying stuff, Max could have stopped them racing that year.

Anyway normal service resumed, it's back to bashing JB for not trying to win the WDC and how unworthy a champ he will be IF he wins and clearly he is a mid pack driver that might as well do another NPJ and stuff it in the wall..

I will chime in here. He was followed so heavily in a certain Honda mag for a while, and this seasons he was winning and winning and winning. And magically not so winning. Ugh. I swear it doesn't take much to see what happened. I had high hopes and slowly lost them as the season progressed. Either way I am sort of glad the field is somewhat mixed. Maybe it makes for some more interesting drama. Though the economy dropouts this year don't help.

presicely. The car was so far ahead the first few races and now that everyone's closed the gap he is by no means the best out there. In the end all that matters are points though so...

GO RUBHINO!!! Actually he has next to no chance, but I do agree Button is backing into this thing...RB has had his number the last six races and if he would have had a bit of luck earlier in the year, this would be a different story, but he didn't and it isn't.

All I can do is laugh at the people saying RB is done in F1, yet AGAIN. He is waxing the guy who is going to be this years' champion, and he is SECOND in the championship. Heck Vettel is third, should he be out of F1 next year too?

Matt, Rubens had the same chance as Button at the start, luck it works both ways although it always pisses me off when the luck card gets played, to explain the success of drivers they don't like.

And least we forget that Button has won more races than his two title rivals combined. If F1 had gone with the medal system Bernie Greedystone had wanted in deciding the title, Button would already be World Champion ;)
