    Hey everyone!

Over the weekend I picked up a 2001 Ferrari Spider, absolutely stunning ... still getting used to the power and joy of driving it; and the small issues that I've inherited.

I'm located in Canberra, and I'm having huge issues finding a mechanic who can work on Ferrari's.

    The 2 issues are

When I hit a decent bump in the road, the warning light for the roof comes on - I need to stop, and then re-engage the roof for it to turn off.

When I'm reversing or driving from a standstill, and I turn the wheel fully to the left or right, there's a slight scraping noise.

The drivers side window doesn't fully engage to the upright position - I think the drivers door panel has been replaced (the paint doesn't look 100% the same in regards to the application, and I think the door is not 100% in place)

Can anyone, please, point me in the right direction for a good mechanic / shop in Canberra?

I really, really don't want to drive to Sydney to get this looked at..

Didn't you get a PPI done before you bought it?

The scraping noise on full lock is most likely the tyre catching on the top inside of the guard. Mine does that too. Usually only happens if I am not on a perfectly flat surface. Solution is to only use full-lock in reverse at very low speeds, for as short a time as possible.

Possibly changing to another type of tyre may help (I have michelin pilot sport cups) but it happened to me on the previous set of OEM Pirellis too

Hey ... I work in Dickson (woolley street), so Max's workshop sounds ideal.

Have you used them before? I can't seem to find them online ... do you have any other details?

Thanks heaps for the info by the way :)

if that's the case, then you should have at least a 3 month warranty. Pay $300 odd dollars and go and get a PPI now in case there is something major that would be covered by warranty

    Big mistake with Ferraris.

Is the car lowered? If it is the front tyres catch the lip of the guard and can bend the guard and cut the tyre. It can also screw the handling as it changes the rake front to back. Remember these things get a bit of downforce from the underbody aero.
Obviously an issue at higher speeds so perhaps not as much of an issue on the cafe strip as it is on the track.

Window, roof and door issues could be expensive trouble.

Anthony Costello - does not service Ferrari's.

Chris Hedges - does not service Ferrari's.

Max Bianchini - can't find this guy at all on Google or Yellow pages.

This is so painful! Looks like I might have to drive to Sydney to get a bloody mechanic to look at it :(

Welcome to Ferrarichat, nice to see another Canberra Ferrari owner here.
As regard to the top, there are good mechanics in Canberra, BUT i doubt if any of them have ever worked on a 360 folding top mechanism. Apart from having no experience, they would at minimum need a service manual to understand the system, and I'm pretty certain no one has one of them here either.
ALL the 360 / 430 and 355's that i know of in Canberra go to Sydney for anything more than basic stuff such as oil changes, wheel alignments etc.

With regards to the door - a good panel beater would be a start, contact me privately and I'll pass on my recommendations, but again, I doubt they have ever seen a 360, let alone the inside of a door.

The risk with taking it to people who have never seen one of these cars, is that they have no experience in working on them, don't know the "tricks" and you will be paying for their learning experience (aka experimenting on your car)

Just a question - are these recommendations based on your own personal experience ?

Do you live in Canberra ?
Do you have a Ferrari ?
    Who services your Ferrari ?

I was being polite and optimistic :)

Gregs suggestion of getting a PPI immediately was a good one. Get it fixed under warranty.

Just choose someone with experience to do the PPI. For a recent model like a 360 I would use the Ferrari dealer myself.
