    I believe that's a later version of Ivo's enclosed front wheel fueler. His first one was an orange color that he totalled in a crash. That car is now owned by none other than Bruce Larson (yes, that Bruce Larson) of USA-1 fame and former NHRA Funny Car Champ.

    One I really remember was Eddie Hill's engine explosion at Texas Motorplex in Ennis. The engine blew totally apart and parts were found several hundred yards away..........Found to be a faulty casting in the engine block. Several top fuel cars using this motor suffered fairly similar occurences. Eddie had the same thing happen in Houston later. Fractured a vertabra in his neck. The force of the explosion actually bent the two down tubes on the back of the rollcage in. In the photo you can see the mag is still igniting the spark plugs as the head is being tossed into the air..........Massive explosion. Very scary. We all held our breath for him...

    Anyone remember his old twin engine pontiac short wheelbase dragster from the early 60's? It was the first gas powered dragster over 180 mph. The four slicks would rip holes out of the starting line on asphalt surface tracks.........

    His drag boat days.........The only person to ever hold the top speed 1/4 mile record on water and land at the same time.....

    His constant sidekick, Ercie........

    BTW. Eddie has been a buddy of mine for many years. Can you tell?

    I remember that explosion. Glad he came out OK.

    Ya know, if I could go back in time to the 60's, and pick any motorsport from scratch to personally get involved with and follow, I'm not so sure drag racing would NOT be my choice.

    Indy, grand prix, stock cars, Lemans, drag racing - I'd probably pick drags followed by indy cars or endurance racing.

    Now, if it's the 70's, I think I'd do grand prix hands-down easily.
