Over the last few months I have been organising my Ferrari photo's into to files, like many here I have 1000's of photo's and they were getting out of hand, so I decided a clean up was due.

I went with the Make/Model/Sub model order of files, so I now have a relatively organised set of photo's. I was thinking of breaking them up into color as well, but that will take a fair amount more time.

How have you guys done your photo files?

    I have a "FERRARI" folder. In that, I have 348,355,360,430,599,458, 308/TR/BB folders. :D:D

I keep all the Ferrari supercar stuff in the main FERRARI folder. I dont have them seperate, but I probably should. :D:D

Sorting them by colour would take ME ages as I have a lot of pics! :p:p

As of this moment I have 9818 photo's (on this computer, and about half as much again on my laptop) filed in 121 folders.

I have tried to get photo's of all era's of Ferrari, from 125s, to 458, it has taken hours to sort them out, but worth it...

Why do some of you have all these pictures saved?????
Unless you took them yourself I'm guessing you found them on the web; why not just leave them there and let somebody store them for ya?

Look them up when you need them next!

Picture 1 shows my My Documents folder, which has a bunch of subfolders. It also highlights the Ferraris folder.

Picture 2 shows the inside of the Ferraris folder, which has a flew of subfolders by model name.

Picture 3 shows the inside of the 360 Modena folder, which shows folders by year (inside of which are subfolders by serial number). The remaining folders depicted in Picture 3 are serial numbered folder that I haven't had time to place in a year folder.

Picture 4 shows the inside of the 2004 folder.

Picture 5 is back out to my My Documents folder, only this time my Enzo folder is highlighted. :)

Except for the Enzo folder, and special cases with the Ferrari folders, I don't maintain this system anymore. Rather, when images are downloaded from my camera on a certain date, that date accompanies said serial number in my database, so I don't need to copy and paste images from one folder to another - I just know where to look once my database tells me where I saw a certain car.

I have my photos filed by what they are, "Cars", "Travel", "Sports" and then by locations where they were taken.

Creepy is what I do. And, I lament, I do it well. :)

Thank you. Now if I could only organize and amass this much information. Images are easy. :)

Your keyboard is equipped with a Print Screen (PrtSc) button (see below), which is essentially a camera shutter button. When you see something on your screen of which you would like to take a 'snap shot, move your mouse/curser out of the way and hit the Print Screen (PrtSc) button. When you hit it, nothing will happen. But immediately after you do this, open up Microsoft Paint and press CTRL+V (paste) and the screen shot you just 'snapped' will instantly paste. From there, you can resize (CTRL+W) to FerrariChat's maximum width (800x800) and then save (CTRL+S) as a .jpg (also seen as .jpeg and JPEG).

    I hope this helps.

I use Picasa to store mine.

Most auto photos I take will fall under the event I take them in. Like club meets, car shows, and exotic spottings, or sometimes the make/model of the car followed by date taken. Most non-automotive photos I just store as the date I took them.

It would depend on which photo browser u are using. You can keyword each photo and the use smart folders to view any type of folder u want instantly.

I have 9,124 photos just in my "Ferrari" folder. Within that "Ferrari" folder I have 156 Sub folders. That's just my photos from 2009 only. I only have 532 photos in my "Other Ferrari" folder, so the vast majority are photos that I personally took with my camera.

Basically mine is set up like this.

    Ferrari
    v
    [Texas Ferrari] ---- [Other Ferrari]
    v
    [Austin] - [San Antonio] ------ [F40] - [Enzo] - [Scuderia]
    v

I do all of mine by event named YYYYMMDD_Event so that they are in chronological order. For me it is all about the event and less important to group by model. I don't have a very good memory, but can still find things quickly like if trying to gather all F40 pics I've shot.

This is what my Ferrari Events folder looks like right now. I also do this exact same thing for Flying, Racing, Hunting, Fishing, and Personal. All pics of Mia are in folders every 3 months.

I have a folder called FerrariPics and store them there. Simple right now because I only have a few dozen pics so far, but as the folder grows I suppose I will have to find a better way to organize.

I have most of them organized in the way you describe. I started to do color and then realized that it was going to require too much time so decide to keep it as is.

my archive is similar to NNo´s.
it contains about 50.000 ferrari pics - all with s/n of the cars.
about one third of the pics have been made by myself, the other are from around the web or made by friends.

i have the registry by build date and model like:
1959-1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB and then subfolders by s/ns.
all these pics have the s/n in the filenames.

the second thing are the pics made by me by year and event like:
2007-01-25 Cavallino Classic containing all pics from the event in the order they have been taken.

its a lot of work after a good event with many pics, but its worth it.

now i am able to find any pic in seconds!
