Plated "EE.60564", this is Walter Wolf's first Countach which we think is 1120006. It was the first Countach with a wing of any sort, and in fact this wing, mounted at the leading edge of the engine bay cover, was a fully adjustable unit supported by buttresses and adjustable struts.

Great period factory courtyard image of the car after gassing up prior to a test drive. Given whose car this was, perhaps this one also had its engine tuned by Gian Paolo Dallara.

I assume that you are the person I met at Keels & Wheels this year. Your car looked like it had never seen the road before. I thought your back-up camera system is pretty interesting. Very nice car!!

Indeed! I'd also like to know more about this. How "disassembled" were the cars, were they assembled first at the factory and then disassembled for shipping, were they painted, were the interiors complete? I'm intrigued...

My understanding was that they went to South Africa in seperate crates (chassis, bodywork, engine, interior and so forth). Assembled & painted in SA.

I'm pretty sure without the carabo we wouldn't have the countach and without the countach we wouldn't have many other nice sportscars on the roads today. :) All I have is a 4th gen camaro rs and thats about as close to a carabo as I can get.

The Carabo and the Lancia Stratos and Countach where probably the most influential designs to ever. I wonder how sportscars and supercars, concepts would have turnout without them?.

I have the story in a book somewhere - I'll have a look when I get some time.

Now, you guys should be all over this: one of the 2 Countach was featured in an issue of Classic Cars or the other one within the last 12 to 18 months, think orange - again got to go looking - in fact could be the one in the current issue of Octane v the 512 Boxer??

Well, we know of at least 2 RHD LP400 that 'started' life in SA.

    1120274, now UK-registered BAG 875 S, finished in Arancio.

    1120168, now UK-registered WYN 820 S, finished in Giallo.

But, I have a contact there that assures me another remains there, that's where I get this theory of 3 cars from.

Eric the literature consists of individual pages, and is not a brochure. There are some pages dedicated to a Miura S and Miura SV also...

    1120124 ?

In the year 1999, GTC in France held #1120124. They were close to decide how to repaint the car, and decided between black and dark blue. I do not 100% remember the result, but I believe they painted the car in dark blue. So it could be #1120124 (the interior was retrimmed in black, if I remember correctly, but also here I'm not sure), I remember that the car later went to Japan.

    Any comments by Japanese chatters?

    Hi there,

We had a blue LP400 here in Holland for many years, with a white interior.
Car came from France. (third & fourth picture)

I belief that this is the same car that was pictured in the World Supercars 2 Countach book by Jeremy Coulter. blue/white (first two pictures)

In 1996 or 1997 the car was sold, it could be to Guikas.(fifth picture)
Can you confirm that this is #1120124?
And this car should have been repainted, and received a retrimmed black interior?

Please note that there is another car in Germany that looks a lot like the Dutch car,
s/n 1120256 (last picture) The ILR had pictures of the Coulter book added with this car.....
The car has french history as well....

    Confusing!!!

    Ciao!
    Marcel

    Marcello:

The following few posts are what I think is correct. Obviously these are not verified by myself personally, but rather by sightings noted by persons who ought to be correct. Very likely, but, never guaranteed.

This car is 1120124. This is the one sold by Gikas as noted by LC3929, renowned by several parties to have been re-painted bark blue and re-trimmed black whilst in Japan. Still has its Vitaloni Sebrings, very likely the car Ive posted above in dark non-metallic blue.

This car is 1120290. In fact, it is Blu Tahiti, not Blu Notte. Seen at Lamborghini Day 1 in 1995. Auctioned sometime in the early 1990s if I recall correctly to a Swiss owner. I believe this car remains in colore Blue Tahiti with interno Bianco.

Marcel, Joe: difficult to say. I always thought that #1120256 is featured in the book "World Supercars 2", it is quite probable that this is correct, but I am not 100% sure.

Marcel, I remember that the Dutch dealer knew Jean Guikas well. He told me in the end of 1998, when I was looking for a LP400, that his blu/bianco car was sold "recently", but he said "I have a friend in Southern France who has a yellow car" - then he gave me the phone number of Jean Guikas. So I found #1120082.

Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the Dutch dealer, I have it somewhere but don't find it.
