Who ever did your garage put in a lot of effort on the design layout. That bluestone concrete flooring is something else! The lights and color choice and wall art and not an overload of items. Well Balanced. While I like large tile this is done so well it's just hard to compare to anything else. The garage doors are the real highlight as they hide all the hindges and hardware required to open and support them. Very well done in deed! Has a very eccentric theme to the entire place and those vintage sports cars are better displayed then the original show rooms they sat in back when they were new! Ciao, SRR
Thanks. The designer was me (I'm an architect) and it's a generic pole barn. I did the finish-out myself, including building the carriage doors from scratch. I posted some pics before but I don't think I ever included any shots of the book-nook at the end of the building. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Replace those camp chairs with some old leather wing-backs and call it a day! Definitely one of my favorite garages in this thread. Thanks for sharing.
To my darling husband, Before you return from your business trip I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pick up truck when I turned into the driveway. Fortunately not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don't worry too much about me. I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake. The garage door is slightly bent but the pick up fortunately came to a halt when it bumped into your car. I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you my sweetheart. I am enclosing a picture for you. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again. Your loving wife. XXX P.S.. "I posted some pics before but I don't think I ever included any shots of the book-nook at the end of the building. " darryl - you posted this somewhere because i remember the engine block table. i have to say that one of the best aspects of this garage is your creativity. good work.
I'm new to the forum and just found this thread. Wow, you guys have some great garages and very nice cars! I'm inspired to start on a long overdue fall project to expand my garage into an unused bedroom which will add needed winter storage space for some of the older cars and motorcycles. I'll post some before and after photos when I get done. Thanks for the motivation!
Isn't the "pharse" 'empty warehouse full of great cars' a contradiction of definitions?. I did receive an "A" in english composition, so please explain, the unexplainable......Mark.
I wish all garages were built this way. This Green-certified garage was built for $160K includes straw-bale construction, solar panels, energy-efficient doors and an "Incinolet toilet" (which is an electric toilet that incinerates waste). How cool is this garage? Here is a link to the article in the Baltimore Sun: http://TwitPWR.com/u14/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
160k? Ouch. I guess it costs more to build in Baltimore than here... Nice shop though. Like the PV panels.
$160,000? What is it, 1,000 square feet? $160 per square foot? I can (did) build a nice home for $160 per square foot. I am not much into going "green" especially at that price. How much energy would a normal 3 car garage use anyway? I have a hard time believing this kind of stuff is really saving the planet. I think somebody is making a lot of money off stuff like this. It might look cool once it gets full of cars, but it won't add one second to anyone's life. Just my 2 cents.
I'm sorry - but that could be the ugliest building I have ever seen...and I love architecture... To each his own though.... For $160k you could get a pole barn and 430
+1 If everyone built this way we could save the Polar Bears & more importantly, the Abominable Snowman. Ferrari owners are ruining the planet be we could all help if we build our garages out of straw.
ok, great way to help and save the planet. On the other hand: what do you put in it unless you have cars running on electricity or biodiesel? The others spoil the idea behind this 'green' garage, no? Best Jurgen
That is just a ridiculous price for that garage...and it's really a shame that it turned out looking like that. Building green can be both cost effective and beautiful, this is neither.
...built with petroleum free duct-tape by a blind man.... I love the way you can't even tell it's supposed to be environmentally friendly. _J
