Definitely. From what I saw on ESPN yesterday, it seems' the 'Big-Wigs' are greasing the wheels so to speak for his removal. They should let him step down on his own merit.

Bobby Bowden said in an interview that the only thing after retirement is to die and that he has no plans of retiring. Do you really think he will do it on his own? Could he be classified as a coach emeritus or something? Something that will allow him to maintain his dignity.

He's gonna need to bow out after this season or he'll end up fired in the middle of next season IMO.

Nice 4th Q comeback by Nebraska tonight. I picked them going into the game, figured their D would take care of Mizzou's offense.
And then the D made some big plays in the 4th Q to take the lead and score a bit more to take a big win.

Here's the way we're seeing it in Tally right now. Every time Bowden speaks its about "I." What would "I" gain by retiring? Why would "I" consider that? etc. Its not about what's best for FSU, not about what's best for the football program. Its about him. Believe me, I agree that he built the house. I was there 98-02 when we went to 3 national championship games in a row (only going 1-3, but that's another story). After the near loss to Jacksonville St, in the post game interview, he kept saying we were playing Troy St. 5 times he did that until Deckerhoff corrected him. Its embarrassing to have your head coach not even know who you almost just lost to.

This isnt a recent thing. We've been in a steady decline since Mark Richt left. Slipping lower and lower, losing games that we have no business losing. We are 98th in defense this year, allowing an average of over 400 yards per game!

This SI article sums it up.

Ole Miss had 19 yards of offense in the first half. 19.
Ole Miss' D played well for the most part. Forced Bama to kick 5 FG's, and held them to a pretty lousy 4-20 on 3rd down conversions. But Bama did convert 4-4 on 4th, Ingram ran for 170+ and the defense picked off 4 passes. 2 of those not Snead's fault.

    Roll Tide.

TCU at Air Force in Colorado Springs,

19 degrees at gametime. Had been sleeting. Freezing drizzle. 15-20 mph winds.

TCU loses three fumbles, two in the red zone (the AF 4 and 6) and an interception in the red zone (AF 15).

Air Force would not go away........

TCU 20 - Air Force 17. Very exciting 2nd half.....

The first half looked all TCU but AF did not give up and fought back hard.

TCU is now 5-0 and Air Force is 3-3.

Whew.........and did I say it was cold there?????

And my Noles defense lets us down...AGAIN. Putting up 44 pts should almost guarantee you a win. FSU now 2-4, 0-3 in the ACC we used to dominate. Bowden won't get out of the way so Jimbo can take over. What a craptastic season.

Who could have ever imagined that a team with that much offense is actually falling apart at the seams?

We did. One was nullified by a penalty, and another was foiled by two dropped passes. Other opponents won't be that lucky.

    *sigh*

3 interceptions, including one for a touchdown, sealed North Texas' fate this weekend. Lost 38-34 to the Ragin' Cajuns, with our opponent's last touchdown occurring with only 27 seconds left in the game

    Both defenses looked absolutely pathetic.

I thought Bowden was being forced to step down at the end of the season???

    Mid-season Heisman favorites?

Colt McCoy (Longhorns), based on excellent (last season) #'s & great (this season) #'s?

Tim Tebow (Gators), for winning over-&-over w/ the bullseye on him?

Jacory Harris (Canes), for being the start-all/end-all for the 'Canes as well as a big-time/big-play guy?

Ryan Williams (Hokies), for being productive & consistent vs. tough opponents as a redshirt'frosh?

Jimmy Clausen (Fightin' Irish), for being on N.D. & winning AND winning w/ good #'s?

    ... others?

(the above isn't an exhaustive list, just names that come to mind after 5-6 games played thus far based on individual & team performances)

Tough to say about the Hesiman hopefuls. Nobody has been stellar all year so far. Actually, the players are kind of in line with the teams. No team has been playing lights out all year either. It is kind of a down year for college football (if there is such a thing). I'm happy that Tebow did not get re-injured, and that the Canes put up a good number against our weakest opponent of the year (it was 31-3 at halftime when Jacory stopped playing). UF-LSU went kind of as expected for me. I think the Arkansas game next weekend COULD get interesting. When they are playing well, they are awesome. But that can change from week to week, or even within the game as we saw when they played Auburn.
    GO CANES!!!

I went to LSU for the big game on Saturday. What an experience! We had an absolute blast. New Orleans was great, we made friends at a few places there. Met Zophie one night for dinner, she's an absolute sweetie. The fans in Baton Rouge were very hospitable, a couple invited us in to their tailgate parties. Death Valley is awesome, pulling into campus one tailgater had a spit with a roasted gator on it. If you've never been to a game there, go!

No, he's not. The head of the Boosters said he wants Bowden to do that, but the Univ President said he will not ask him to. Our Defensive Coordinator is retiring at the end of the season. Bowden is on a one year contract every year. At the end of the season he "decides" whether he wants to come back or not. Of course for $2+mil a year, why would he say no. Rumor has it that he was offered $5mil to retire this year, but turned it down. His wife, Ann, is the driving factor behind all of these decisions, btw. She's the one who made him hire his son, Jeff, as offensive coordinator which was the biggest mistake he made in the program. Then she wouldn't let him fire Jeff when he turned out to be a bust. We had to buy out his contract for the next 5 years.

It's the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, he probably has far more influence than the head of the Boosters since he works hand in hand with the University president. But I don't think he has say over athletics.

Hate to tell you but the team and the offense was better under Jeff than Jimbo. I know it is a bad situation for all up there--Bobby, Mickey and Jimbo but they need to figure it out. Whether he's coach or not Fisher gets $5 million in 2011. Mickey's checked out for sure, the defense is a shell of what it used to be. I guess that is why there is so much controversy.

Yeah we were talking about it this weekend. FSU is making a mistake with the Bobby situation and probably a $5 million mistake with Jimbo. If they were smart they would clean house and go after somebody from the outside to come in and clean house. Mark Richt was a god there, FSU can probably afford him.

I think Cace Keenum should be at least worthy of a mention. His stats are impressive, and he's proven so by beating 3 BCS AQ teams.
Did you see the interviews with BB they aired clips of during the game? It's gonna be a sad day when he's gone. Even though it's time....what an era though.
