--How does the Classic work? I know there are alot of things going on that week. Can one just fly down and pop in to the different events? Is there a registration required for some events, etc? Maybe somebody who knows can break down the week or the things to do. I would really like to attend this year, but have no clue what it entails or how to go about it....Any websites out there?

Probably fly down and rent a car for a few days...

    The official website is:
    http://www.cavallino.com/classic.html
You can fly down, rent a car, get a room (I'd recommend the Palm Beach Hotel for value and palm beachiness), then choose your events and pay at the door for most of them. The yacht hop and jet reception need tickets in advance IIRC. The track days are good fun, the show at the Breakers Saturday is a must (both can get tickets at the gate), and there are usually a few non-official things going on that are fun. John Temerian also usually has the Palm Beach supercar weekend on the same weekend as Cavallino, so you can soak up some of the newer car scene at that event.
We have a steak dinner for out of town people after the track day Friday. Check here for details in about two months.

Thankfully the Supercar Weekend is going to be in February this year. Now we can catch both!

If you want to go to the Classic Sports Car Sunday at Mar Lago you should get your tickets early because they were a hot item last year. You can pay for admission at the track as you enter.

The Classic is an awesome event not to be missed.

I've been to every Cavallino Classic since its inception (this will be #19), and wouldn't miss it. You might want to register in advance in order to avoid the chance of being shut out of any of the more popular events you might want to try, and to have an excuse to pick up your nice registration materials at The Breakers if you're not planning to stay there.

I think the best part of Cavallino is Bill Tracy's.... But that's just me (and everybody else who has attended...)

+1 one for Bill and his wonderful wifes party.

I would say the track days are the best part. The other stuff inc. the Concoures is somewhat of a bore. I stay at the Red Roof Inn $50 and it is closer to the track and Bill's party. I park on the street several blocks from the Concoure event that saves $30. The track is where it is at. Don't get the lunch there it is not worth it either. Bring a cooler with a lunch or get a hot dog. I think I have been 10-12 times.

Just show up, no need for advanced anything except a place to stay and a car rental. The Cavallino Classic is absolutely worth the incredibly low price of admission. Compared to Pebble Beach, CC is a bargain.

It is just pure class. I hope I will be able, and alive, to be able to fly up in January to see it again. John Barnes and his wife put on a class act show.

I wish that Super Car Weeked was the same weekend, not the same day. But now I understand it is in February. Was a treat for an out of towner flying in to see to incredible events the same trip. John Temerian puts on an incredible show also. Different from CC, and I never saw them as competition.

The events at Bill and Lisa Tracy's are legendary. In fact, I would miss everything else just to go to their soiree.

Cavallino is a great weekend. IMO stay at the Breakers. It's the hotel were the event is held. The fish bowl bar at the back of the Breakers for lunch is a must do for a tourist.
The track day is awesome. Friday is the best day. Less people more cars.
The concourse, lot's of diversity. Also check out the parking lot at the breakers. Owners bring lots of other cars. Cool event! A must see.

If you want to stay at the Breakers, I suggest you get your reservations in now. The show is worth the trip.

    Breakers is very pricey

The PGA resort is very nice and much closer to the track and has lower rates on rooms

    +1 for staying on PGA.

It's much easier when you are going back and forth to the track Friday and Saturday. If you stay at the Breakers and leave the track around 4pm you'll have to deal with all the traffic trying to get back to the island. Plus you have all the restaurants right there by 95 and the shopping if you need to distract the other half. Making it to the Concours Saturday morning is easy if you leave early with the only downside being the Parking $$$$.

I'd also highly recommend getting tickets for Thursday night's party at Jet Aviation. Another cool thing to do is to find a good spot on the tour route and bring a chair so you can sit and watch all the cars drive by. There are lots of great places you can park and see all the action.

The Breakers offers reduced group rates for Cavallino attendees starting at $450/night, which is well below the usual tariff at that time of year. Not inexpensive, but actually a bargain all things considered- it's a beautiful property and the service is excellent. Frankly, nothing over on the mainland compares, and while it IS a longer drive to the track, you're otherwise in the center of the Cavallino activities.

The Palm Beach Hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the Breakers and has lots of good Palm Beach feel to it (at around $200 per night).

Read the reviews, for the money you can't beat it on the island.
PGA resort is nice too if you want to stay in a convenient location without breaking the bank also.
    :)
