Finishes of 4th, 3rd, 3rd and 4th in a field of 43, the only Chase driver who has finished in the top 5 in all the Chase races, and he's losing ground to the points leaders.

somehow I think ol' JPM has gotten used to frustration since, say, 2000.

But he's hanging in there with consistency that he always lacked. The only open wheel guy to have truly made it in these cars. Go Bubba Juan.

I'd say that Tony Stewart has made it, too :)

but I get your point, JPM has done something that even Franchitti, Pruett, JV, Etc couldn't pull off. Mega props for being a true, old-school racer.

Don't get me wrong, I like Tony Stewart. Especially the TS before the Frances put a muzzle on him. But he was basically an open wheel oval guy that did well in the IRL when it was Billy Boat and the gang.

look at the obvious...hendrick horsepower is simply in a different league. jpm is currently first in class!

of course that "class" includes all but hendrick cars. jimmy johnson's car looked like it had two motors witht the way he pulled away!

wait till charlotte when the hendrick cars will build a bigger points lead. i would not mind seeing martin win this one...but johnson, not so much.

I couldn't agree more, the Hendricks cars are at a different level with JJ being the marker. I think the rest of the field is starting to get worried about JPM. He's driving great in a much inferior car.

After the last race, I'm certain he was happy with fourth. Just caught a highlight of Hamlin's chop. Could have been nasty.

Absolutely correct, I would take JPM or Mark Martin over no personality Jimmy "Flying Burrito" anytime.

I've been rooting for MM since he is the only guy in all of major sports in the same decade of life as me. JPM has taken a while but he's getting the hang of it. I wouldn't mind if he won. I think most of us have to admit that we expected he would be a one man wrecking crew in NASCAR and the exact opposite has happened. Supposedly MM has been his main mentor and his driving shows it.
