Which class are you planning to run this in? Or is it an open sort of thing?

    Hey Jim,

I know yourself and P4/5 have quite a following in the worldwide car community. What about a way where each one of us enthusiasts could buy a tiny space on the car? The space could house an image or the like and then all those tiny spaces form a mosaic image. It would be difficult I imagine to sell enough spaces on the car to fund the operation in its entirety so maybe just on the nose or some section that is visible but doesn't take away from higher-paying sponsors.

This way we can all be sponsors in our own little way. By Enthusaists, for Enthusiasts.

Lets see where this adventure takes us but that is a nice idea.

Maybe the mosaic images could be placed along the bottom edges of the bodywork, or over the top of the car like racing stripes?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I was actually thinking about the same thing and started doing some math as I typed a response a few days ago. If we over estimate the size of the body of the car at 80 square feet and the space was sold at $10 per square inch, that would be $115,200. I don't think that would quite float this project. Even if you add a zero and sold it at $100 per square inch, that still probably wouldn't be enough. It would also take a lot of transactions. The car would end up looking really cool though!

The concept is a good one. It worked for http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/
I've done similar things before and i could see funding the entire project using the same concept, simply:

    1. Determine what you, Jim, need in terms of financing to make this project a reality
    2. Divide the external surface body work of the vehicle into the equivalent of pixels, i.e. a bunch of squares.
    3. Assign a value multiplier to 'pixels' that are in key areas of the overall surface area, i.e. doors, center of hood, etc.
    4. Allow major, minor, and individuals to "buy" space on your vehicle.
    5. Those of us that are tech-savvy can take those individual contributions (and associated images) along with the pre-defined larger major/minor sponsor areas and rearrange them via programming to make all of the small images form a mosaic of a larger overall image.

The advertisement could draw _almost_ as much attention as the vehicle itself. I can get you all the way there on doing something like this. :)

I'd have everyone's name 'ghosted' over the cars final livery... so from a distance the car would appear in solid colors but up close you'd see the characters. If they were done with a 'spot varnished' effect, the reflective quality of such a treatment would make for an awesome effect when the car is flash photographed. It would also look incredible under the strobe lights or when catching the fading evening/morning sunlight during the race :D

    Thank you.

I think something similar to this would make a great poster to frame.
