Going to replace my clutch in the Winter and wanted to know from guys that have experience. Should I go with the AP Performance clutch kit or use the original Borg & Beck? I can get a better deal on the Borg & Beck stuff. I know that the newer Ferrari models come with the AP Performance stuff but the older cars used the B & B stuff (mine is a 1978 308 GTS). I tried to search in the 308 section but couldn't find anything comparing the two. Has anyone used both? Any help would be great!

Any other suggestions as to which clutch to use would be great. I drive mostly on the street with the occasional track use.

I've used them both, in one application or another. No meaning difference, one way or another...

Thanks David. I thought that they would both be good but I wasn't sure. Would you recommend anything better for race use?

I bought the A&P & its much lighter and user friendly than the B&B in normal driving, the only downside is at high RPM shifts the pedal is very very light. This worries me about clutch slippage but I'll accept that in lieu of limping after using the stiff B&B clutch in traffic.

Short of having a custom PP or disc built, the BB clutch may have a slighter heavier pressure rating on the pressure plate, as BillyD stated. T Rutlands often sells a HD version of a 308/328 clutch in "kit" form. I can't recall the manufacturer, but I've used their clutch kit on numerous street/track applications with good (long term) results.

    Best,

This would concern me. I must have the original B&B stuff in there right now because my clutch is a little stiff and does give me a workout in traffic (how I like it). But the very light pedal doesn't sound normal to me under the high RPMs. Is this normal with the AP stuff? Anyone else experience this?

I bought the car with an AP and replaced it when it wore out, so I can't compare. But after seeing the clutch linkage. I wouldn't be putting in a heavier pressure plate.
That little 308 engine dosen't make that much torque to offset replacing old linkage parts, she don't have a 428 Cobra Jet under the hood.
