Also, how is the F1 in the 612...does it have the same technology as the 575 or is it more like the 599? Sorry for my ignorance on this...I have a 550. I'm thinking of trading my 2000 550 and 2006 Maserati GS (with 575-like F1) for a 612.
Looks like this hood was done to look like The Kappa ( Peter Kalikow's 612 ). I really like it. I think the F1 on this 612 is closer to the 575 than to the 599 (Its not as fast that i know for sure). Later 612s might have the faster F1 software. You should drive the 612 before you trade, my dad who has a 550 and drove a 612 said the car was lacking feedback andwas way too assisted.
The newer 612 One-to-One (the one with the electrochromatic roof) which replaced the "normal" 612 in 2008, comes with the 599's F1 SuperFast gearbox (which is fantastic).
Wow! I love that hood scoop! And this car is a manual! If you're gonna get a 612, this is the 612 to get! I would love to know more about that hood scoop.
I wonder if there are any other mods under the hood that required the scoop? either way - I wish mine had one!
