Good day to all, I searched the forum for an answer to the above and only found one answer in the thread about the show on NGC. They stated that it takes 45 days to build a 599. When I was at the Atelier last March they told me it takes about 35 days. I was wondering if any 599 owners can confirm (correct) these numbers and provide more details? Does the 45 days include road testing and final prep for delivery? Thanks for the info you may have. Cheers, M
You can relax for a while. The cars take 3 to 4 months to get in your hands. You could fly the thing over to speed it up but it more bucks. Once the order gets firm you get a stage # that identifies it. Ferrari doesn't really give you the count like they used to. So now you are at stage 10 let's say. When it is stage 90 it is done. They assemble all the parts and make things for you car along the way. I have an '07 599 and I think it's great. Your car will be worth the wait. Congrats.
When I ordered my 612, it took about 4 months from acceptance of the order until I was able to pick it up in Maranello. If I had it shipped over here, it would have been about the same time, or a few weeks more, since I couldn't get there until a few weeks after it was done.
I just asked the same question of my dealer and here is what they and Ferrari NA said: "There is no December production, if you have a November build slot, you're looking at a late Jan/Feb delivery. If you have a January build slot, you are looking at Late Feb/March. There are no VIP cars in the system at this time either (should you qualify through your dealer) for a VIP car. Hope this helps.
Ferrari will usually build several VIP cars and hold them or allocate them to a few of their very best dealers. Ferrari does the specifications (color/options, etc..) and put's these cars into a "special status" because nobody ordered them specifically (not a customer and not a dealer). Why? In the event a Royal Family member somewhere, Brad Pitt or Bill Gates should decide they want a 599 next week, Ferrari has a few too choose from, tucked away at the factory. If you've purchased a few Ferrari's from your dealer, they would "most likely" get you a VIP car should there be one in the system. As of now, Ferrari is cutting production on the 599 and they are not building VIP cars at the moment. I just found out about this program a few days ago myself. Hope this helps.
Very interesting... I'm not surprised that they're not building any VIP cars at the moment, as they're probably still trying to get rid of the ones they've already built! Thanks for the explanation.
Interesting feedback. Thanks to all but I should have mentioned that I'm located in Europe so I don't have to fly or get it over by boat. In fact, I'll go pick it up at the factory. Meanwhile I can confirm that build time normally takes 35 to 40 days. Mine is taking a bit longer because of special color and some special requests. It is moving along well now and should be finished end of the month. Cheers, M
Hi everyone, i have a question. May be that building of 599 takes 35-40 days, but i heard about 2 years waiting list, which could be VERY annoying and pissing people off. One day you're deciding that you want a 599, you pay for it and they tell you - ok, so now relax and wait 2 years to get it. One guy in Poland ordered black 599 in 2006 and got it in 2008.. That's dissappointing. Could anyone give me a lesson of Ferrari Selling politics? Sorry for my bad english.
It has always been this way. Ferrari always builds less cars than the market can take. Keeps the brand exclusive, and resale values high. It will never change. Customers live with it! If you can't wait 2 years, get a 2nd hand car as an interim.
You can pay a 'premium' to bump yourself up the list. Cost of such a 'premium'?, prices are named from around to 20K to around 50K (depends how 'hot' the car is at the time really, 458's regard pretty high premiums at the moment!). After you've purchased a few Ferrari's through your favourite dealer normally they automatically bump you up the list, without having to pay for premiums. Especially if you're on of the few Enzo/F50/F40 owners, you are regarded as a bit special... However, that's not always true, because a former Enzo owning member on here got asked to pay X amount of a premium, despite owning an Enzo and an F40 and having bought numerous Ferrari's and Maserati's through the same dealer...and then he got pushed back again if memory serves right.
Thank you very much guys! I'm asking, because I saw here a few owners, which for example posted a new topic like 'ok, gto ordered' in december and took their cars in may! And thats extremely fast delivery! Wish I was such respectable man.. So, even without a Ferrari History (when starting to own supercars) I can pay them to get the car much faster? More money = less waiting? If GTO costs about 350 000 euro I pay them maybe 420 000 euro and I get the car in about ? 2 moths? 3?
You can pay to ship it direct by air, that would help--but to my knowledge, your dealer cannot call Ferrari and offer them more for a more rapid "production date". The dealer can, however, work with their contacts within Ferrari (or FNA in US) and massage a date which may be earlier than otherwise open--that's entirely up to Ferrari/FNA execs at HQ, your dealer's relationship with the factory/marketing arm and your own "status". You could also build you own relationship with a senior exec--and be allocated through your dealer a car sooner, ie, if you know the President or your cousin's brother in law is the head of dealer/customer relations. For most, that's the "fat chance" option .
Ferrari Dealer Warsaw has just started it's work, in Poland is about 200 Ferrari's,and all of them were bought in Germany and Austria. We have a black Enzo which originally was Giallo Modena and one of few 612 GP which leaved Switzerland. So I can't count on Ferrari Warsaw because they are ''new on the block'' and what experience do they have..
n4s- The long waiting list is for new model cars, like your friend's 599 was when he ordered it in 2006. If you want a new 599 or 612 right now, there is no waiting list and Ferrari and any dealer will bend over backwards to get you one quickly. GTO? All allocated, but with 420K Euros, you may find someone who will sell you his order. Taz Terry Phillips
I've read few minutes ago in Polish Forbes that one businessman from Warsaw paid 503k euro for GTO... just.. wow..
