I've just fininished rebuilding my carbs. Full rebuild kit, reamed and restaked lead plugs, ultrasonic dipping, new sealed bearings, new linkage.

The first pic is what the carbs looks like currently. Clean as a whistle, but a bit dull as hell.

the second pic is from a guy that polished his carbs. I like it, but a little blingy.

Interested in any opinions out there. Polish the carbs or leave them alone. I and my car are not concourse or original in any fashion.

I'd leave them alone. The air cleaner's going to cover them anyway so why go to the trouble?

If you do seperate K&N filters then I would go with the polish. Using the stock air cleaner I would leave them as cleaned finish. My 2 cents

What are you guys using/recommending for the seperate K&N setup? I have been wanting to go to this setup and have been eyeing some of the Pierce Manifold products, perhaps even going as far as the the slip on filter screens..........

    http://www.piercemanifolds.com/airfilters.htm

Not sure if there is any other good options out there? Does K&N have there own filter and filter housing setup for the DCNFs?

I like the carbs with the "polished" finish. They are a work of industrial art and worthy of a place on any gearhead's desktop. It would be nice if you could see them mounted on the engine. Your idea of a seperate filter box / plenum may be the way to go. Let us know what works out!

It would be interesting to see how the extra breathing of the K&N's is offset by loosing the cold air induction. Engine bay heat can be mighty high on these cars and power is directly proportional to air density (which is inversly related to temperature).

Oh yea; I like the unpolished and really clean look. More 'machine', less 'glitz'.
