Strange effect with those pictures. It is almost like a painting with the picture of the GTO added to the lightened background image. Especially the last image with the red Porsche and silver Ferrari looking like artwork. CH
Thanks Joe! You can see all of my images from that event on the dealer's website: http://www.lfsc.com/event/2009concours.htm I found out that the man who owns the car is named Peter Dyson. (Via the concours website) Then this thread popped up in the Chicago section: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261318 and this post as well: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139021074&postcount=36 Sounds like he's got quite the collection! Hope that helps, Dan Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks Dan. I'm aware of car & owner. In fact the car is serviced by a well-known specialist in Indiana, and you'll note the plates are Indiana plates.
Joe, do you know of any 288 that was ever in Omaha in the late 80s or mid 90s? I heard rumor it might have been a yellow one that was bought for nearly a million dollars.
Cris Vandagriff of Hollywood Sport Cars ordered and received a 288 GTO built very late in the production run. On that particular car the front bumper was painted red. However the rear bumper was still black as seen on almost all the other cars. CH
A copy of a nice book memorializing the GTO Reunion that's going to participants of the event landed on my desk today.... This car is being offered for sale at Kroymans in the Netherlands. At the same time the car is shown in an advertisement for a second company in Holland called "Schuijlenburg" in Haarlem... Meanwhile this car is used in a test with 4 other "period" super-sportscars in a Dutch magazine called "Autovisie". Here is stated the car is on sale at classiccartaxatie.nl... Soo , if i'm correct this car is being offered for sale by 3 companies at the same time... . Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is looking VERY nice indeed! Some great photography , credit to Ms Sackey? Making the book that is...
Maarten: Totally Mrs Sackey's thing. Very simple little coffee-table book, to memorialize the event, the people, the cars etc.
Well , Mrs Sackey has done a great job there! Book looks great, many beautiful detailshots. Has it more in it on the Evo?
I think it's just a bit odd to see it offered for sale by 3 companies at the same time... Best, Maarten
Thanks gents, I will be sure to pass on the compliments. Here is an old pic from the car's launch period... it proves GTOs do not melt in the rain! Image Unavailable, Please Login
GTO owners benefit from the fact that they made so many Testarossas. Accordingly several manufacturers are committed to supplying tires in the size we need. Thank goodness! This image shows a Testarossa using GTO wheels... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is it? I think it's more odd to see a car like this being for sale on the internet rather than 'just' trading hands between owners... Any comments on this Joe? Gr. Martin
My comment would be that the best cars never reach the internet, or multiple Ads like this. They trade hands privately, which is the way we now do the majority of our business. Of course, this is not an absolute rule...
The 288 GTO was launched March 1984. This photo is not from the car's launch period. It was taken on the 22nd May 1987 at the Exposition "Hommage a Ferrari" conducted by the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art held at Jouy-en-Josas, near Paris, France. The car pictured is 53757 and came from Charles Pozzi SA. Marcel Massini
Marcel, Joe, I was in this exposition (I was 14 years old). It was my first Ferrari event and it was great (except the weather...) ! (I have a lot of pics of all Ferraris from this expo). French m..ia.
