95% sure this Sepang virgin will be going mate... as well as a couple other guys (2x 997TT, Audi A4 1.8T, and C2S). Understand that in addition to this there is a new 997 PDK cab going, Jack for sure. Will definitely do the drive up... see what the other guys are like and if sensible bunch will hit the track.

Anyone keen to do this sometime in your life? Two to go :) but we need to find a historic car!

Any other rallies? I saw one for the Casablanca, Mexico etc. Seems that classic rallies are coming back..

click the registration on left. Otherwise, just rent a car & follow the race, tracing the exact route.

Sounds damn cool man! There's actually one closer to home that's going to start tomorrow.

I think following the route is a much better idea than joining the race. Aren't some of these cars so old that they don't even have the normal 3 pedal setup?

Forgive me but are there more variants than 2/3 pedals??? I only know that some of the oldies have the gear lever on the sills. Anyway, I guess some old Alfas & Porsches or even British won't be too expensive to own & participate but the gearbox & brakes would be challenging for hillclimbs....

Aha, u should do it man! We can't even have anything remotely such over here plus the scenery is awful. Maybe one day I should just swing by down under.

Good find! There's an F40!!!! woohhoo

Actually the FCT boys are very active & a bunch of super warm owners. They also post in the Thai section. The club chairman sent me a booklet & CD some years back but I haven't found the chance to meet up with them yet. They were talking about a doing a drive to Phuket with Malaysian & Singapore owners meet up over there. Now that will be cool!

I cannot remember where I read about it, but I think it was somewhere here on Fchat. Apparently cars did not always have the clutch, brakes, accelerator setup and it was only in the later half of the 20th century that this became standard. Apparently they used to differ between countries and some countries made their cars with the clutch in the middle, the brakes on the left and the accelerator on the right while other older cars used a clutch lever or something like that.

Here's a picture I found on fchat, perhaps the pedals are just not shown due to the angle that the picture was taken from, but it pretty much looks like there's only 1 pedal in this car.

I found the picture from this thread http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253345

Haha I wish I could join, but I don't really have any passion for vintage cars. I intend to go for a drive along their route one day though. Maybe we could have an overseas Fchat drive if anyone here wanted to come visit Australia!

Oh my.... those plumbing works remind me of something out of the movie "20000 leagues under the Sea"

I remembered that the vintage SLR has distinct left & right pedals which fits our soles just like us standing up with foot apart. So, you brake with left foot & gas on right. Not sure about the gear change though.

I wouldn't dare to enter an event in a pre-War car. Something from post 60s would be nice. A friend from Singapore did the Louis Vuitton Classic Cup in China few years ago in a vintage Rolls Royce, their car's suspension broke down in a remote village & he needed to improvise something to make it run on all fours again. He also improvised a drinking straw for oil line!
