I saw the new Panamera - on Bay street - inside Holt Renfrew as a display between the Armani Socks and some old man loafers.

Its a champagne brown colour - quite nice colour actually - the car somehow didnt keep my attention - the AM 4 door looks way better looking at the pics -

Not sure how long its been there - maybe this is old news.

Either way go down and check out those comfy loafers.

 

Thanks - I can put the plate on with cable ties and take a photo. Is that all it takes or do you need to drive the car to the court?

 

That can't actually work; can it? Just like speeding, you're only charged with speeding at the time you get busted so a picture of the car with plates but without the cop in it would be useless? Maybe if you attach the plate in a semi visible area, where the cop could possibly not see it if he didn't look twice that would work but who knows, maybe that would be another violation.

 

He's not suggesting that he testify the plate was always there - just that he remedied the situation.

Only a complete retard with a penchant for jail food would do that.

 

Starboy, you are in business right? Lets say you buy stock from US or Europe when our dollar is below US $ par. Several months later US $ is at par. Would you sell at new exchange rate or releative to your actual cost? I thought so.

These simplistic, now the $ is at par comparisons are exactly that, simplistic.

When I moved into my new residence area, I was approached by an officer while we were both at a gas station. He said to get a front plate on my car or next time I would get a ticket. I put a plate on the front, folded it nicely so that it is the height of my bumper. Thankfully the 308GT4 has an area on the bumper for a Euro plate so no real issue except I still think it looks ugly. But I did avoid the ticket, once in a while on the Gardiner I can see a police car inching ahead of me in traffic to get a peak at the front

Now if they would chase the 'no DTRL' crowd as vigorously I would be a happy camper. The number of new model cars without is growing. Something wrong with how RIV test this requirement. Stupid owners IMO.

I think that's stupid, IMO. I think cars with the electroluminescent interior lights (which leaves dumbass drivers driving around at night without their tails on) is a much stupider idea.

I just leave my headlight switch on "AUTO", and let it do its thing. I also have my lights set to turn on with the wipers, speed sensitive as well.

In that case yes, maybe you'll get a reduced fine but you'll have to take it to court and speak to the Crown. If you're lucky the cop won't show.

 

That should suffice. You do not need to physically bring the car into court last I checked. Just take a picture that shows the timestamp and you should be okay.

- green Lotus Elise in Bradford at Guild of Automotive Restorers. Turned around to go get a closer look and it had already been put inside (5pm-closing time!)

Saturday:
my wife is visiting friends in Indianapolis. Besides getting daily pics of her and my son, I get this on Saturday afternoon, email titled: MY GARAGE TODAY

These friends are car people, that is his M3, also has a white NSX, and she drives a Mitsu Lancer EVO. The Carrera belongs to a friend of theirs.

I replied with my sentiments promptly ie. jealousy, resentment. I was then told, "This is what Jenn (my wife) and I (the friend) are going out on the town tonight.

Note: I complimented the wife on getting a bit of her Corolla in the pic, ahem in the company of greatness.

It is simplistic, but who would want to pay an extra 25% for the same vehicle? If the dollar is at par, then new car prices should equal those of the US.

 

You can't seriously be suggesting that MSRP fluctuates in exact relation to the exchange rate? Wanna volunteer for the hob of the guy that sets residuals?

 

I need to get my 2 front fenders rolled.. and the lower front bumper touched up (on my 360).. Ive asked several people about rolling the fenders .. seems like an issue.. suggestions on where to take with no worries in the Toronto area? Thanks.

 

I agree, its a little bit insane to monitor every transaction and fluctuation of currency. We just have to let nature takes its course, and let tens of thousands of cars cross the border when the dollar is par.

When the dollar hits 85 cents again, none of this will matter anyways.

I've heard rumors about a turbo'd Diablo in the GTA, guess they were true!

 

Is it OK to charge Canadians at a higher rate for non-warranty service work done on their US market car once they bring it back to Canada? The same model purchased by someone in Canada is billed for the service work at a lower rate.
Does an American tourist get charged the import car repair rate or the Canadian market rate when visiting Canada?

You're either putting words in my mouth, or arguing something completely different.

I only replied to the simplistic notion that now that our dollar has strengthened (noticeably in a matter of weeks, no less) that vehicle prices should magically change to reflect the forex... Which can't be done for many, many reasons - one of them being lease residuals.

While we're lowering MSRPs, we better have the Autotrader alert anyone selling a used car to also drop their prices by "25%" immediately.

The service side is where much of the car dealer profit comes from. A different price structure for the servicing of an out of market ie. USA car purchase is another way of trying to protect the 'home market' prices by the car company.
It was not impossible for the car companies to raise the MSRP more than once when the cost of raw materials increased during a model year. Even going back to 1974> a year when the MSRP was increased EIGHT times during the model year. If a price increase can be implemented due to market pressures then a price reduction should also be possible. The Canadian consumer has a long history of being gouged by the inflated price policy of the car companies selling into Canada. If the car companies were making the slightest effort they would get together and pick two dates during the year; say March 1st and October 1st as valuation day. The current prices would be set based on the value of the dollar on those two dates. If the price fluctuates due to exchange rates for better or worse between those two dates the MSRP would still be locked in. However they simply want to ignore the problem. Once the manufacturer is paid for the vehicle and the warranty period runs out; what happens to the vehicle is of no further interest to them from a resale standpoint. Though replacement parts are another chance to stick it to the consumer. (In one way Ferrari is the exception. They have figured out a way to spin extra more money from their old cars with a certification program.)

The price disparity is a problem that the strong dollar has hi-lighted again. Back in 2008 some car companies reduced MSRP which was a tangible result for the consumer. Other car companies used weasel tactics like rebates but didn't address in a serious way the price disparity that continued to distort the market in the long term once the 'deals' dried up.
Doubtless a number of sellers in 'Autotrader' have had to adjust their price expectations now that they compete for a sale with out of market vehicles that are priced lower now.

I was actually day dreaming the same scenario... as the OEM's can act the same way as banks do, and adjust rates periodically according to market and rate fluctuations (ie mortgage rates). Its a tricky process to integrate, but the positive results could be astonishing.

The main reason the OEM's "weaseled" their way out of the par dollar is because they don't want to offer huge discounts, then a month later jack up prices again. You can't play the pricing game like a yoyo...consumers will riot in the streets. Its better to properly anounce and declare a price adjustment as mentioned in the above comment.

In the end, its not an easy solution.
