I can't address your question directly but I can tell you the color of my '79 308GTB, in full Standard Specification, muffler. Most stainless with a little age on it is this color. It's stainless steel silver-brown. See below: Image Unavailable, Please Login

Uhhhh, it isn't painted. No number. It's raw stainless steel. Just try cleaning it with ScotchBrite and WD40. That's how I keep the one in the picture above (silver car), in presentable shape.
