how many other share my opinion - that this is absolutely the ugliest car to hit production in a very long time? I mean the guy who designed the rear end of that thing should be let go asap - remember chris bangle? -

    just ugly...

Not a beauty but not a bad looking either.
I would consider one seriously as daily driver.

The front is beautiful and the back is just awful. Hopefully after a few years they will go back and get rid of that bubble on the back and it will be their flagship car that they wanted it to be.

Our local dealer got one in last week and I stopped by to check it out..Honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought..The interior looked great, and it actually sounded pretty good too..

I ordered one on Saturday for use as a daily driver.

Looks, way, way different in person.

Much longer, wider, and agressive looking.

It's a big car and it has presence. I'm ok with the look of the rear, I think the rear 3/4 view is the worst angle.

    The interior is tremendous.

I agree. My wife has a Turbo Cayenne and was interested until she saw it in the metal.

Hideous car. I don't care what it can do. You'd have to be nuts to be seen in that thing. It's like the emperor's new clothes...anyone who buys this is completely delusional. You couldn't pay me to be seen in that thing. Vomit.

Can you refer me to your MD?

Apparently I'm both nuts & delusional.

saw one for the first time "in the flesh" tonight. looks better in person than in pictures, but it's still pretty ugly. no way I'd spend $100k+ on that with the Maser QP, BMW M5/7 series, AMG Mercedes, Audi S8, etc etc out there already.

I drove the Panamera 4S at Park Place in Dallas this weekend. In person, it does look better than photographs. I was very skeptical, but in person I found it to be "interesting". I say interesting because a 550S, 7 series whatever, Jaguar,Lexus LXJ470HybridGreenfuel yadddah yaddah yaddah do not seem to be spark any excitement except for the used car dealers who are happy to grab these coming off of leases for 30% of original sales price. But I digress, back to the Panamera.
The interior is impressive. Felt like the cockpit of a Citation. Great layout, unmatched finish.
I sat in the backseat as we did 100mph on the tollway. No road noise, suspension is very good. As expected from a Porsche, not too stiff, not to floaty.
Driving was extremely impressive. Acceleration was very good.
I highly recommend a test drive if one is considering a sedan. $130K for the 4S does seem high, and $155k for Turbo is hard to accept, but a great car.

You obviously haven't driven it..never say never.

I like driving the Panamera Turbo better than the 599..that may be due to the F1 transmission versus the PDK.

The PDK rewards whereas the F1 bores, no wonder Ferrari has gone to PDK for the future.

Saw my first P in person last night. Beautiful car. Not sure if I would fork over that kind of money for it, but suspect whoever does is not going to be disappointed.

I saw one up at Monterey at the Historics, in a nice blue metallic. It's unattractive, IMHO, though I'm sure it drives like a Porsche. (We didn't get to drive the demos at Monterey.)

I think the problem is Porsche feels compelled to use the 356/911 design theme on every vehicle they make. It worked fine on a rear-engined, small sports car, but it doesn't translate well to a front-engined four door sedan.

Merc has the winner in the CLS.

I saw it in person for the first time yesterday.
I was convinced based upon the pictures that I would absolutely hate it, and in fact looked forward to hating it.
In fact my reaction was the opposite.
The back only look ungainly when seen from a distance and at 90 degrees to the car...every other view is sensational.
    The interior is amazing.
I have no concerns about the performance and overall quality...I'm sure they will be oustanding as well.

Before I was thinking of a Maserati QP GT-S....now I'm not so sure.
I may wait a year or so for a few bugs to be ironed out then look at either a 4S or Turbo Panamera.

Function over form...the Porsche way ;-)
I'm waiting to see one in person, but the idea of an over 6' person being able to sit in back and have room for 4 peoples' luggage makes for some design challenges. Car seems to do everything it was designed to do though...works for me.

Maybe we can get some on-the-cheap in the used car market in the near future?

Vipermann is right. It's butt-ugly. Whoever buys this car clearly does not care about the exterior looks. Sure, it can carry 4 people in comfort while doing 130, but how many of you need to do that regularly? Sure, it has a great cockpit. Is that worth it, if you have to look at this in your garage everyday? Ugh. I guess there's no accounting for taste.

What an awful, awful looking car...makes the Cayenne front end look decent, and that's saying something.

this thing will depreciate like crazy....

the one I saw yesterday had an MSRP of $122k. I predict it will be worth $50k or less in 3 years.

Look at the Aztek's depreciation curve. The panamera should have a similar curve.

Man, I thought that the Cayenne was hideous when it came out, and thought....well, they got the ugly out of their system.....boy was i wrong!

This looks like a stocking one would hang by the fireplace. (Filled with coal......)

Interior is nice, but wow....I cannot believe at least one person at Porsche didn't call Uncle on this hideousness. It must be some one who has connections designed this thing and everyone was kissing his butt.

its ugly for sure, like the cayenne. But the cayenne is still one of the best suvs out there. ANd so it is with the panamera its hideous but still from what I've read/watched it is one of the best four doors out there to drive.
