I know its been beaten to death, this subject, but, here goes again.
I started itching in the middle of the summer and i am gonna pull the trigger as soon as possible. I am thorn between the choices below to replace my 00 360 Modena mt.

07 F430, 2k miles, G.Titanio/nero, nicely specked; Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel, Front and Rear Park Sensors Challenge Wheels, Daytona vs..(sadly, no CB or challenge grill), bargain price.

04 360 CS, 4k miles, blue pozzi/tan (leather), options are, i guess, radio/cd, red calipers and contrast stitching. Price not important as its a CS.

I have driven both back to back and surprised by the F1 improvement of CS over 360 and almost did not feel any difference between F430. So, my last hope of disliking the CS thinking its F1 will be jerky flew over the window.

The cons of CS are that it almost looks exactly like my car so it may not make me feel that i have bought a new car. Although the color and stripe are huge clues, you know what i mean..,
it sounds worst than my car, at least at low revs (i have tubi),
its tech. is 5 years old (i know it does not matter, but),
probably will cost more to maintain (again, i do not care much as i will probably do average 1.5k miles/y),
are there any more you can think of?
We all know the pros, its a CS for crying out loud and the cleanest one, and there are only 3 of them.

I do not like the looks of F430, (maybe if it was rosso scuderia or bianco fuji)
    there are too much around,
its not a new model year (there are 08-09 and will prolly be 10 my's)
Missing core options (CB and imo the only good looking part, the Challenge grill),
It is pricier than CS (sure it is, but if i can make a saving and buy a CS what else can i want)

Its faster and more modern than CS,
    It is probably more reliable,
Its more luxurious (i do not care about that actually, if i had the means i would surely jump on a Scud)
The price is almost as low as it can get for such a mint condition car (owners business plummeted). But after 458, the prices will fall more in the future.

My heart and logic says CS but the F430s price is too good to pass.
However i think i can always find a better or nicely specked, newer m/y F430 in the future if i buy CS, but its the only time that i can have "this" CS because i do not know how future owners will threat that car...

Am i missing something, what would you do, am i over valuing CS?

Oh, and i have to buy CS with cash (and try to sell 360 by myself) however they dealer will take my 360 as exchange if i go for F430 which is better than trying to sell myself, but still, its a CS.

To make things more complicated, there is a 08 G Spyder, 2.5k miles, nero/nero, nicely specked, fair price. But i am not a flashy guy, so "spyder" is a waste on me, and what is the meaning to pay extra on a spyder if you aint gonna benefit from it. (no better specked or cleaner G's around)

It's obvious you want the CS - and I wouldn't blame you :)

And if the F430 is such a steal why not buy it and try selling for more?

Shouldn't the decision be made by this? Maybe its just me, but i wouldnt buy a car that i didn't like the look of....

    What TOUGH decision! :D:D

I love them both and I would be torn between the too alright!:eek:

How about you close your eyes, have someone hand you both keys (which you dont know which keys are for which car) and you pick the key in whichever hand you have. :):)

That or have someone pick the car you want for you. :p:p

I only highlighted one word - "may" - it "may" seem same, except for the stripe and other tells.

No matter, as your heart and logic say CS.

After you tire of that, you can get a 430 and if it matters at all, perhaps you'll take less of a financial hit in the process. After all, you're only expecting to put low mileage on car per year, while prices drop.

It sounds like you really want the CS. Go for it, you wont be disapointed! Every time you drive it the rawness and agility are a special treat. 10 years from now a F430 will just be a used car, a CS will always be special.

Regarding the sound, just disconect the vacuum valves on the CS exhaust leaving it constantly in the open position. Sounds fantastic, better than a Tubi. I had also had a Tubi on my prior 360 F1 and think the CS with open valves sounds better.

im not in the position really to buy either, but i often thought about this question. they are near the same price range.

heres my take on it. it really depends on what your goals are. do you want a fun weekendend warrior that you arent going to care if you put miles on? get the f430

dont get made at me for saying this, but if i bought a CS i would not want to drive it anywhere seeing as its a limited production car. the f430, there are so many out there that i would drive the piss out of it. im averaging 12000 mi/year in my 355 and loving every minute of it. but i dont think i would want to drive3 that much in the CS.

    thats jsut my view.

You gotta go with the CS.

You've said it yourself, you can pick up a nice 430 anytime and maybe pay a little price premium over the current bargain (or maybe not?) but you might never get another opportnity for a clean CS.

    Go for it!

Your doing trackdays, you will regret buying the 430, trust me. You sound like you want the CS, these cars you buy with your heart, not to get a "steal" price.

Buy the CS imo, I did 2years ago and won´t change it for anything less then a Porsche CGT or a F40.

Get the 430. Later technology, better car. Neither is going to hold it's value, and the CS will cost you big time, with brakes at 10K, belt replacement, etc. If you want an old Ferrari, get one from the 60s. If you are looking at modern technology, newer is better than older.

How much track time do you have in a CS ? 430 is a fantastic car but feels ordinary and dull compaed to a CS on track. The CS will hold value better then the 430. We will se premiums for CS over 430´s in the not distance future.

I don't have any track time in a CS, but have driven one a few times. If you believe that the CS will hold it's value, check on the Fionano (sp?) 355. You will note that it didn't retain it's value, and it was the predecessor of the CS. They built too many.

You are right about the new technology but i do not think technology is a deciding factor between CS and F430 . And if i buy F430 i will surely find one with CB, so brakes wise it'll cost the same when it needed. Besides, maintaining costs, unless its something unexpected/unpredicted, does not bother me. Sure, if they say that clutch is 70% good and after 1k miles of "nice" (ie: no LC, no hill start) driving i need a new one, it will hurt, but i am sure if such a case arise the service will find a solution not to upset me too much.

Anyways, i feel that CS will demand more maintaining cost (hopefully don't) even its a "Ferrari Approved" car but i will feel better to spend on CS (a car that i will truly enjoy) than to just another mainstream (whatever that means 8) but new Ferrari.
And CSs milage is not that high at 4k.

If i go for CS (looks better every day thanks to your comments), I am already decided to purchase a set of PZero Corsa's, repaint the front bumper (i think the dealer will do it for free), a new key (just the casing) and factory stripe.

I want the car as pure/just out of factory setup as it can be because then i will truly feel that its my "new" car, without any doubts. I have never thought to do such things for my 360, i mean i treated her right and take good care but always felt that it was not a keeper, it was just a first step to Ferrari a good one indeed.

Does this makes sense to you at all?

My thoughts are slowly changing to: Either CS or hold for Scuderia and drive 360 one more year (i think i will be able to afford one till the end of 2010) and there are more choices.
But by then, i hope i wont be in the 458 or Scud dilemma, which i am sure i will, damn...

They bulit fewer CS then F40´s. Can´t compare I know, but, the CS is a very special Ferrari, even among people that have supercars. 355 Fiorano was a 355 with handling pack.
CS is much more then a 360 with loud exhaust and lowered. The closest thing you can come to a supercar for the dollars.

I don´t think CS will hold it´s value for the next 10 years, but it will hold better then any standard Ferrari, including the 458.

I believe Ferrari built only 100 of the 355 Forianos that's many less than the CS. Let's just say that the CS holds better value that the regular 360/360 spyder.
