For the 3 of you that may care, the Automobile Magazine article on our Supercars Across America trip with fellow FCA/NER members Dan Watkins (FChat: Dan360) and Glenn Farrell is now out! Subscribers should be receiving the November issue in their mailboxes any day (some have already gotten it), and it's available now on newsstands.

I submitted a 9,600 word masterpiece/giant stinkin' pile of rubbish about twice the length they had specified. Oops. The editors were kind enough to spend several days hacking away the useless bits with a chainsaw to get it down to something like 3,700 words, and with the photos they selected from the professional photographers, Mark and yours truly, it's an EIGHT PAGE spread. You'll be able to see it in the next (November) issue, and I'm pretty pleased. Some of the trimmed bits, including some fairly funny stuff probably not suitable for a national magazine (all of the rude jokes, the innuendo, idle gossip, and complete and utter lies) will turn up in the future, maybe as additions to the blog. http://bigheaddennis.blogspot.com/ Thankfully, this is the last you'll hear from me about this trip. :)

The editors would like you (and everybody) to go to the newstand and buy a copy! :) They said it might make it online, but not for awhile - unique articles like these are the main draw for the magazine (newstand and subscribers), so they don't get posted online immediately.

Long time subscriber to Automobile here.
About the only mag I can tolerate any more along with Road and Track.
Ezra is my favorite columnist now, quite the wit.

    Great article all in all.
But hey; not much comment on the F1, my all time eternal favorite.
    What's up with that ?

    Wow, thanks!

Last week I read over the article in my usual way, that is, for free, while drinking coffee at Barnes & Noble, which carries most of the car rags (although Books-a-Million has far better car books and also Forza). But I had a friend with me and she deserved some attention too, so I didn't read the article in detail. One thing that did stick with me was the best photo I've ever seen of a 612. I've seen 612s in the showroom and in many pix, but that one in the hardcopy (think it was at a gas station) really flattered it.

Keep on truckin' and how about a reenactment of The Cannonball Run, with a Countach, etc.

Yeah, that gas station pic of the 612 is really quite good (and I don't look as fat and ugly as usual!) :) Guess that's what happens when it's shot by a professional!

I did take a pretty good pic of the 612 myself, in a scenic outlook off Skyline Dr (below). I like this angle a lot.
